I think just before Babcock got fired it would have been fair to say the Leafs' playoff hopes were in limbo, or if there were one game left in the season it would be accurate, but at this point it's hyperbole. But I guess without hyperbole in Leafland there would be only silence, so carry on. |

This team
They can play that tight checking, hard nosed, playoff style.. I've seen it this year.. not very consistently but it's been there..
Aren't injuries the time for the leadership group to gather the guys and say .. hey we need to play this certain way while Muzz and Morgan are out .. Def responsible.. make sure we're in the right spot in the D zone.. less run and gun more chip and chase.. cycle down low..
What are these assistants doing .. not much if you ask me...

So I learned from fake that coaches don’t mean anything.
I wish I was paid 5 million a year to just look pretty. |

Sometimes I think actually missing the playoffs this year is the wake-up call this team and management really needs! Getting in the playoffs may give Dubas the impression that he just needs a few minor tweaks here and there and they'll be fine! Missing out after forking out the money they have on there top end players should definitely be a wake up call that will force some tough decisions.
Dubas seems to have had grand vision that this team was going to be like a fantasy/play station team. An offensive juggernaut & analytical darlings that were going to globe trot every other team with just raw talent and nothing else!
Right now all this team seems to be are an offensively talented but emotion-less zombies that crumble when they get pressured or pushed around. They only want to play on one side of the ice. This team needs major work before they'll ever be considered as a cup threat! |

We lost right before an 8 day break..the negativity and "blow it up" is going to become nauseating. |

It’s kind of pathetic.
They are going to make playoffs. Dubas is going to add to this team...probably over the break.
Wouldn’t be shocked to see him add a backup first with the way Andersen has been playing. He’s the guy who has to step up with the injuries to D. |

It’s ridiculous how leaf fans are.
The Leafs went on a crazy run then they lost Rielly/Muzzin....
Muzzin will be back after the break. Dubas will add to help goaltending. Things are looking up.
They have the 2nd easiest schedule(apparently) we will be okay. |

Thing is we keep coming up with excuses. The excuse for losing in Florida was due to spending the day before in the Florida Sun and never showed up to play the day after.
We beat Jersey but had a 6-2 lead and nearly come unraveled at the end.
Only real good game we played this week was against the Flames. Still lost a close game so I don't have any real complaints about that one.
Lost against Chicago cause it was the day before an 8 day break so we're apparently distracted.
So if we get spanked by Nashville on our first game after the break is it because they're rusty because of the break? Too many excuses!

They lost a few games relax.
They were missing their top 2 D and Andersen is off his game.
poop happens.

Ya know .. I don't even think it's the losses.. everyone loses..
To me it's been the inability or lack of self awareness to recognize playing the same way with top 2 D out and goalie going through a rough patch just won't cut it .. That's what is baffling.. |

I certainly love trades but I do my best to remain patient. I knew Dubas did his work in the off season. |

Andersen is probably fatigued with an excessive workload.
Keefe mind (frank)ing him with bad pulls earlier this month probably didn't help things. |

I feel that we consistently undervalue the importance of chemistry.
Engvall Spezza Kapanen were playing great
Gave us 3 strong lines
Then Johnsson came back and lines get mixed up
Trade Johnsson please |

1 win in the last 6 games.
Including 2 games that we got blown up.
The players left themselves a big hole by not trying eaarlier in the year.
They can't afford to keep giving games away.

So it’s on the players and never the coach.
But when a goalie plays bad it’s on the coach...

Yeah they weren’t trying.
Totally.
Putting Matthews/Marner together hasn’t done (frank) all.
Giving Engval a top 9 role doesn’t help.
Giving Holl more opportunity? Yeah that didn’t help either.
They just weren’t trying. That’s the only explanation because nothing else changed in coaching styles.
Oh except Freddy. The coach (frank)ed him up bad and it’s all the coaches fault for his bad play. He’s trying. |

Having your top D out and goalie playing bad is going to get losses not wins.
It sucks. But it’s the way it happened the last few weeks. |

Bad pulls?
He's deserved those and a few more.
Fred has been complete and total poop since November. Was he fatigued a month into the season? Is the .895 SV% he's put up in those two months Keefe's fault to?
He's been poop, and he knows he's been poop. People need to stop making excuses for him. |
