If he does know, he’s not doing much to prove it. Balls out? He had like 2 decent games. Million dollar talent, ten cent head.

Waiver fodder.

Schwarber was a guy who digressed he said with too many hitting coaches in his head. Said he was going back to his way last year. Second half of the season he was the Cubs best hitter basically carried the team. It's not easy until the light goes on for young guys.

Along these same lines, it seems as though some time away from the games to appraise his game helped Caggiula a lot. I'm not sure if it is as easy for each player to diagnose their own faults watching tape of their game, but again, it seems to have really boosted Drake.

Both guys are considerably older and more experienced than Nylander.

Some times you just come across a feel good story while scrolling the internet.

From ‘The Hockey News’ article on the 5 coaches most likely to get fired the remainder of this season.

With that said, in a year that has been among the most coach-unfriendly in NHL history, here are five candidates to be next in the firing line:

Jeremy Colliton, Chicago Blackhawks
When they gave Joel Quenneville the heave, the Blackhawks wasted little time labelling Colliton their coach of the future. He was promptly handed a three-year contract and given the reins of a Blackhawks team that the front office clearly believed had much more to give. And, hey, across his first 67 games, there were some notable positives. Colliton helped unleash Dylan Strome, oversaw an Alex DeBrincat 40-goal season and made Chicago exciting to watch, if not always for the right reasons.

But in his second season in Chicago, the relatively untested big-league bench boss’ team has again been middling at best. Through 48 games, the Blackhawks are 22-20-6 and their .521 points percentage is the ninth-worst in the NHL. Is there a chance that the top-end skill in Chicago still leads this team into a wild-card spot? No doubt. Is it far more likely the Blackhawks fall short of the post-season for a third consecutive season? You bet. And that would put Chicago’s front office in an tough position. The Blackhawks could be intrigued by the talent available on the coaching market and snap up one of the veteran bench bosses. It’s true, however, that the issues in Chicago run deeper than the coaching staff.

I'd really like to see 8-19-88 start the game because 1) they can help the team get out to a lead instead of vice-versa, and 2) I think Kane deserves best shot at hitting his 1000th point on HNIC in Toronto, against his friendly rival from USNTD and last year, and in front of his family and friends who've followed him there to see it.

yeah mees think they will need to score more than a few goals vs these guys..

maybe a feel food story for some...but JC is not getting fired...

they have actually been playing a better across the board the last 5-6 games and the PK is in shutdown mode..close to number 1 in the league since 12/1...

and being done with 5 starters on IR: shaw, dehan, seab, saad, strome with one (caggiula) just getting back.

Justin Williams played with Carolina last season, became a UFA in the summer.

He decided not to sign and “retired”.

He signed with the ‘Canes last week and is expected to play this weekend.

I thought (like the better Nylander) that a player had to sign by December 1, or he couldn’t play that season.

Is it a UFA vs. RFA issue (Nylander was RFA)?

BOSTON BRUINS

Bruins place F Backes on waivers
David Backes
The Boston Bruins placed forward David Backes on waivers Friday for purpose of assignment to the AHL. The 35-year-old has one goal and three assists while appearing in just 16 games this season.

Yeah, the Hawks don't need to Wake Wakey Backes again, and besides his outrageous salary, they would have to buy the dog food on his 13 rescue dogs...

Bob Murdoch reads this and feels better about not being replaced by Mike Keenan .. when Mike Keenan became available. . .

Or rather, trust in precedent in the first instance --- adjust from there. It has happened before...

That's what the dumpsters are for ... outrageous salary is the sticking point. If you want the dude, make Boston deal and retain salary as opposed to getting stuck with the lot.

However, he's still got term left, right? If you want him ... *really* stick them with salary retention ...

In effect - pass unless there is literally no impact.

Sounds a little like the formerly recurring Peter Forsberg sagas of the not too distant past. Only with less of a bloggy buzz ... not click-bait enough maybe? Like Ovi somehow 'being the best goal scorer everz' because he had a series of consecutive 30+ seasons --- Sometimes I'm not even sure what sport I am watching any longer -it has gotten that silly.

Any word on when Soderlund and Kurasev return from Injury. I would like to see them get in one or two games end of season as I expect we will miss playoffs

Trading Lehner and for sure miss playoffs. Trade Crawford, Saad, Gus, maybe Smith not such a big deal

I don't know if I am in the minority or not but I don't care. These subtle and direct digs at JJ I feel are unwarranted.
I enjoyed JJ's writing while he moderated the Hawks blog on hockeybuzz and was not the only one apparently because of participation numbering in the 100's for each of his blogs.

There is a direct correlation to people spending too much time on message boards and being irrationally cynical. You know that!

You’re welcome to your feelings, but personally I’m offended you thought these digs were subtle...mine anyway.

If JJ had conducted himself like the current blogger, pretty sure no one here would have had an issue with him...but treating most opposing viewpoints as somehow threatening or slanderous was kind of unwarranted on his part no?

Maybe you feel different, which is fine, but I’ll never understand how people who read here regularly when he was blogging can come away with the conclusion that poor ole’ JJ was somehow a victim. He didn’t exactly adhere to the age old rule about treating others as how you/me/we would have preferred to be treated.

Tbf, I enjoyed his writing sometimes until I knew some of the trade rumors were plants by people from the board and he ran with some of the same tired old tropes, like “Evil McD”, “lavender sniffer hockey doesn’t win”, etc...JMO though.

I agree with you. He still lurks here from time to time. I had no problem with his posts and I kinda enjoyed the banter with him during games. But he got into it way to often with posters and seemed to take any pushback as a personal afront to his hockey acumen.

As far as the rumors or his sources...meh and bleh I never cared or paid attention.

It will be interesting to see which line JC puts Kane on Saturday night. If he puts Kane with Carpenter and Nylander the entire night, he should be fired.
- Dieselhead

Dcat dach kane
Caggulia toews kubalik
Nylander carpenter sikrua
Highmore kampf smith
A little more balanced and gets to play with skilled players and kane might be able to get dach and dcat going offensively.
