I think with Ullmark the ideal extension is 2 years. I believe he would still be an RFA after that? Next year he starts and Hutton backs up for Sabres. 6K and Johansson split time/compete for starts in Rochester. Year after that Ullmark and the better of 6K or Johannson in Buffalo competing for starts. We have to remember 6K is still very young for a goalie. He probably needs at least one full season in Rochester and he has to get used to a full load of games. I though in this regard they did a nice job with Ullmark and its paying off this year.
I’m not convinced that Botts will try for the playoffs next year either. I think he’ll re-sign several of the players already here. He’ll count on a couple young guys coming up and making a difference. Nothing dramatic, and not enough to surpass TB, BOS, TOR, or FLA. - PrinceChill

i could see that contract but he is going to want more like 3.5 since he is basically the starter now. I just don't think he is worth over 3 mil.. he just cant get up once he goes down and that is going to start getting exposed more and more when people start looking at the tape - SabresFaninIndiana
That's perfect, because the Sabres will want under 2 and they'll settle on 2.75
I think JB is unfirable.
What do you think he does in the upcoming offseason? - PrinceChill
I think he is planning on waiting for Cozens and Mittelstadt to fill the center position and waiting for UPL to fill the goalie position. I think he sees us as being two or three years away from being good.
I think he will bring back almost the same exact team.

I was fully on board with Botts plan the past three years to stock pile high end talent in the draft.
This offseason he has no excuses though as 75% of the roster doesn’t have a contract going into next year.
I expect him to use our 2020 first rounder this year and select another forward prospect.
I expect him to sign Sam, Montour, Ullmark, Larry.
I also think he knows he needs to make the playoffs next year so I expect him to go for quality not quantity in FA and spend most of the cap space we have on 2 mid-tier forwards (perhaps one comes in the form of a trade).
Pray to the lotto gods, and let’s hope Mitts finds out whatever the frank is making him ovulate.

I don't think he'll get fired either, due to the situation here. Doesn't mean he shouldn't be, unless him and Pegula have some plan we're not privy too.
He needs to address 2nd Line Center and a top 6 RW. So that's 2 high end players. He does have about 9.5 coming off the books of not more.

Also needs to address Reinhart and Dahlin. - mattsox

I think he feels Mitzy is his 2C and Cozens is his RW.
