Yeah I just think that is still too soon. Kerfoot is for sure an NHLer. Mickey could end up the next Zaitsev.
- Aaron_85

Zaitzev was Zaitzev with PP time in his first year.

It inflated his stats

Bergevin has made moves with Ottawa and so have we. Mainly just using them as a dumpster though, so not sure if either would be willing to trade players to actual good rival teams.

Personally I can't see it happening, but if it did I would defintely be happy with taking Petry.

- LeafGuy89

He’s the perfect add to this team.

Sucks he’s not on another team.

Who’s in the market for a 32 year old D man for two playoff runs?

Serious question.

Who’s willing to spend that price to fill the RHD spot for a season and a half.

Jenner, Anderson and Savard for Kerfoot, Ceci, Bracco and Johnsson..

That would be good too

- PatC80

The thing is . . . right now Columbus is in the wildcard hunt. They aren't going to make a deal that weakens them now for the future because they need to get stronger. If they tail off, then the deals can be considered - but they aren't in a blow it up mode. Jenner has 2 years left after this one; Savard has 1 more. Columbus has no meaningful UFAs this year, so I doubt they're much of a partner other than we like some of their players.

I know, but it would be nice to have those 3 players on the Leafs.

Byram (just going by stats cause I never see any WHL games) hasn't looked all the great this season as the year prior. And what I seen of him at the WJC he didnt stand out that much.

Hard to make out how he will be at the NHL level, but if I were to guess he would be a 3/4 defenseman and nothing more.

But like I said, still so early to decide that.

- LeafGuy89

That’s a very low take on his abilities & skill set. Like any D pick there is always reservations to the transition. As for the WJC’s it’s a poor gauge other than say Lafreniere. Hayton stood out in his 2nd tour so hold off judgement til BB has his.

Look at his draft year stats. That season he carried his team. He will be a top 2 D with the skill set he has. Great skater shooter passer & joins the rush & leads it. No weakness in his game. He can marinade & be groomed with the Av’s in no rush to play him.

But also, from Bergavin’s standpoint prying away younger talent from the Leafs is a good thing.

It’s possible. If he wants just futures I say it’s not happening.

But Johnnson, Bracco for Petry, pick is pretty tempting

- Santo_44

It does seem that those 2 are dispensable.

Not sure we can handle the Petry salary with needing to resign one of Muzzin/Barrie and then Rielly and Ander7en (or replacement) coming up. He is a guy I would love to get though.

If Vancouver falls out of the race, I could see a trade for Tanev as a rental.

Is mikheyev back by the deadline? That's why i was fine moving kerfoot. Fact is we have too many forwards when everyone is healthy.
- mykokes

i wouldn't count on it.

he's got a very long-road of rehab ahead of him. a lot poop in that area of your wrist.

it could be a career ender. i hope to see him back next year.

Perry’s contract is done when Andersen and Rielly are up.

And they can afford his cap hit if the cap goes up 2 million.

And also it depends on what Muzzin signs for...probably why they are talking about a contract right now.

I think the Habs would probably ask for Kapanen + for Petry.
Maybe Kapanen, Bracco and a mid rd pick?

The Pac is such a dogfight of a logjam anything could happen. A Tanev rental would be a nice idea. In the end we are not deep on RHD & much worse if he’s moved. It would only happen if we do suck & fall out of the race. So many teams bunched up in our division & the WC is wide open making it highly unlikely JB pulls the plug. Our fanbase or at least the dummies think sell sell sell is the way to go even Edler. They don’t care that it leaves us with no D for the tough minutes.

The Muzzin extension is the 1st biz so Dubas can move on to other matters.

Boston wasnt even all that physical in the series against us, that's played out.. a few runs at our guys and that was about it.

No different than any other team in the playoffs.

- LeafGuy89

playoffs are more physical than the reg. season.

being physical doesn't necessarily gain you a huge advantage ... until it does.

sandin needs to prove he has the awareness to see bigger players coming at him and that he won't get knocked off the puck leading to scoring chances .... the later of which happened to him earlier this year.

Tonight's lineups and pairings:

Hyman-Matthews-Marner
Engvall-Tavares-Nylander
Johnsson-Kerfoot-Kapanen
Timashov-Gauthier-Spezza

Dermott-Holl
Marincin-Barrie
Sandin-Ceci

Andersen

---------------

So still no Liljegren, perhaps playing him against Chicago may be a smarter decision. But I have my doubts they will even give him that opportunity lol.

My take is the PO’s amp up on the forecheck & pressure & where every team faces the toughest tests. It’ll come down to how teams handle the pressure & always how goalies play. Your offence imo won’t be a question but how the team D stands up will be.

Barrie is happy again, that's a good thing.. I remember reading an article saying he wanted to be traded when the previous coach was here.

I can't seem them signing him at this time to anything that he is worth without ripping out another piece of the core.
