If you think it's so crucial to get under the cap ceiling this season, presumably you would be in favor of trading Braun for a pick, even if it's just a 4th or 5th. He's almost healthy again, and that would free up $3.8m. And as a 32 year old UFA he's the most expendable asset the Flyers have. |

It's far from ideal, understatement, and just shows how almost untenable it is to be a GM.
You have your bosses that give mandates or pick targets.
You try and hit those targets but you block the possibilities for the team while if you don't you might not have a job. - opeth_pa
While the circumstances aren’t really something that every team faces (both Patrick and Lindblom out for non-hockey related illness) and up to this point the cap was a pain but manageable, that this happened this year is a great argument for a little bigger cap cushion next season.

Coming off a shutout, it’s actually good timing.

First off this comment isn’t meant to rehash every offseason move and every dollar spent this season because on the whole I really like what Fletcher has done and I actually agree on spending available resources. However, I have high hopes for a bit more reserved cap space next season to accommodate injury call ups. That is all. - NC Flyers Fan
won't have Gudas' salary retention next year but AMAC will take up $1,916,667 ($1,166,667 this season) and Schlemko's $600,000 ($900,000 this season) dead cap space next season. no idea if they will have anyone hit bonus clauses. |

Listen, I’ll attempt to not give a lengthy rant.
Not all goalies are Carter Hart. Lots of goalies take time before they are even ready to develop at the NHL level. Lyon wasn’t really ready for a look until last season and he was very unfortunately injured to start the year and his one look then probably shouldn’t have happened. He is ready for a look now, and I pray he is healthy. I’m rooting for him.
I think Hart has also learned his lesson about reporting injuries immediately. Good call, Hart. Get well soon. |

The players that are eligible for bonus money have minimal amounts in their contracts.

I would like him to prove me wrong but I dont see this ending well. Problem is we need a guy to stand on his head. We have too many defensive breakdowns. Habs will feast tomorrow IMO |

We have players to sign next year, but the cap will be ok. If healthy this year would be a different story. It’s not like we are maxed out already for years to come and have 4 mil to fill 5 spots and stay competitive like the pens do every year. And if we are not contenders this year.....hurts most at the trade deadline. |

I was just checking the schedule to see how many games Hart will miss and noticed that, because of the All-Star break and "bye-week," there is 10 days between our "home-and-home" games against the pens.
Not sure why I felt the need to share. Enjoy something that only I would find interesting... |
