Haven't checked that standings nor have I as I'm typing this now, but I thought Vegas was doing reasonably well last I checked? |

And Gallant took Vegas to the finals...it’s been only 2 years. My comment wasn’t at Deboer. I just don’t understand the timing of this change. - NC Flyers Fan
They've lost 4 games in a row and are trending in the wrong direction. They are firmly on the playoff bubble. It might be a quick trigger, but we have no idea what is going on in the LVK room, etc. Could be a mutiny. |

DeBoer is a good coach. Outcoached Lavy in the 2012 ECSF. It was that series, plus the permanent loss of Chris Pronger, that prompted the Flyers' eventual offer sheet to Shea Weber. Devils took advantage of Flyers' lack of a right handed D by dumping puck to same side over-and-over and swarming the D on his backhand. Flyers knew it, yet failed to come up with a way to work around it.
DeBoer has been to two SCFs with a team from each conference -- as with AV, as you noted -- plus the WCF with Sharks again last year.
Not a colorful personality or very demonstrative, but a bright guy and good coach. Gallant is a very good coach, too. Different style and personality. - bmeltzer
Agreed. I could see Gallant landing with the Devils. |

What a horrible coaching change for Vegas |

Ok so I just checked. A total of 4 points separates the 2nd place team from the 9th, where Vegas currently sits. |

Probably more to this than we know. Maybe some internal sh!t brewing?
Crazy how tight the west is aside from St Louis ahead of the pick. Any given week or day for that matter and you could be hosting a playoff round to not making it. |

The Pacific has been wild, weird and unpredictable all year. Vegas is in fifth now but only 3 points behind Arizona in first.

Gallant is one of the 4 coaches in the NHL all-star game. That will be a bit odd.
When they introduce him, what team do they say he's from? |

Representing the NHL, much like MVP John Scott. |

I know it's been beaten to death, but if he's not expected to play, why not waive Stewart, have him make the drive to LV, and then drive back? Why waive a player you actually intend to play? - jmatchett383
The cheerleading and mentoring he does at practice must really be important. Although Im not so sure he still couldn’t do that even while being waived. |

Yeah I guess that is what they will do. Or maybe he gets replaced by another coach. |

#Flyers have recalled Alex Lyon and loaned Joel Farabee to the #LVPhantoms.
Obviously just a paper move. Farabee will be in the lineup tonight. |

On a completely different thought, maybe this change will be good for William Karlsson. I’ve had to talk myself down from thinking of dropping him from my fantasy team. Until the assist last night, he was pointless for the last 2 weeks. Hadn’t had a point since Dec. 27.

Explanation is they aren't sending down Farabee and not playing him tonight, so they can hold on to a poopbum like Chris Stewart. |

Signing Stewart when Fletcher already knew that Patrick's health was a giant question mark for this season was a horrible decision. |

I prefer to think of this as a reserve salary cap space issue (which will hopefully be resolved next season). No matter the feelings on Steward, his roster spot of 13th forward and equivalent salary needs to fit even during injury recalls.

I prefer to think of it as they are sending down a contributing player, and dressing a crash test dummy. |

Was Stewart signed to a one way deal as to why he’s not sent down instead? |

That has nothing to do with waivers. |

In case anyone hasn't been paying attention, this team lacks glue. Take away the glue, and what do you have? Chaos.
That is why Stewart stays. |

This sort of is a problem. Normally Stewart isnt an issue but loaning Farabee who is a rostered player instead of waiving you pressbox guy doesnt make any sense. |
