I still don't understand why other teams don't want the Pens garbage players....I mean we're throwing in a late 1st round pick for god's sake!

Galchenyuk - Best case is to trade him for someone like Craig Smith. More likely we could fetch a 3rd round pick or a serviceable bottom 6 guy. (Someone like buffalo taking a flyer)

Bjug - best case is packaging him in a hockey deal to a center hungry team for a good winger (Zucker).

Schultz - Marino made a Schultz trade possible but always have to worry about a Letang injury. Prob best for him to ride out the season with us. That said, he could be our best shot at a true impact wing.

What would it take to get Rakell by the way?

- YouMeAndDupuis9

I'd be surprised if the guys we are willing to trade get us the type of wing we want. Maybe a Schultz for rental wing deal on a contender, but then we're thin at RD. I think it will probably be more of a futures based deal.

Galchenyuk can easily be shed to balance salaries as needed. The type of teams desperate enough to try him like Buffalo fell too far behind. Schultz is likely to just finish the year then walk and get a new D next off-season.

Bjugstad, I don't think gets much now so like Murray I think this is something you address in the off-season and hope it was the injury that held him back earlier. I wouldn't rule out a hockey trade, just not optimistic they get something that helps now for him and don't need the cap dump yet.

If Galch would have as many minutes with Sid as Simon I’d say his story as a penguin would be much different. Getting him to play in a fourth line role is almost as dim as giving Simon anNHL sweater.

Well we've done it before so...
Scuderi/Daley
Hags/Pearson then Pearson/Gudbranson (even though it didn't work we ended up with the original cap space eventually lol)
Brassard, Sheahan, Picks/Bjugs, McCann
Sprong/Petterson
Now to get Rackell we'll pony up the dough, but id be ok with that.

Because its a hockey rumors site, the Pens have a lot of cap space, there's a lot of speculation from good reputable hockey insiders that GMJR is looking for player(s) with term and GMJR has a history of making moves in January.

what i am getting at is we have 3 players skating and coming back from injury soon. we are playing great. at least wait until after the all star break and look at things then.

perhaps, and this is a strong perhaps, if we keep it up and were able to get a cup out of this roster then we trade them at an all time high as stanley cup champs in the off season.

I think he probably means if the team is playing and doing so well why make trades or blockbusters....but teams can always be better IMO.

I meant to add that my trade wouldn't really effect the current lineup other than Galch and Agozzino/Blandisi, aka the lackluster not really providing much pieces, being removed and replaced with Staal and Zucker.

I’d look at it that Sid has no chemistry as he hasn’t played. So trading for a winger (or 2) for him has no affect on chemistry. Worst case they don’t jive, Sid gets Simon and horny, and the 4th line gets a boost. It was like burying Satan down there in 09.

but why are we talking about blockbuster trades right now?
- pensfan024

GMJR has a history of making trades earlier, rather than later. Smart, if you think about it... the guy(s) have more time to get acclimated to Sully's system, and the price for said acquisition MAY be lower because the market hasn't been set by previous transactions (right at the deadline, typically).

We also have a known player not fitting in and should move whenever we can. That wouldn't (frank) up chemistry. We only have 3 lines going really. Let's get 4 lines going by getting Sid back and getting rid of Galch.

I'd keep Schultz we know he can work well with the team AND we can shelter him on the third pair now. Makes our right side pretty damn good. However if a good deal came up for him I wouldn't hesitate, just wouldn't shop him like Glach and Bjugs

I pretty much agree with this.

I doubt they used past stats. According to twitter, JJ is actually 4 for 5 career on shootouts. Meanwhile Blueger was 0 for 2 as a professional. I'd imagine it's a gut call for Sully.
- Tojo.

Well, that was straight from the horse's mouth. But I know what you mean, once you get past 5 or so, there is probably very few stats so it just becomes a "gut call" as you say.
