Be pretty (frank)ing nuts if this was the year we won the Met, possibly even the Presidents. Shout out to Letang for having a fantastic OT. That game doesn’t go to shootout without him last night. Personally saved two primo chances.

Probably 58's best three-game stretch of the season, this roadtrip.

Rikky with 6 points and +4 in his last 9 games...leading the D core in (all situations) CF%, xGF% and 2nd (Rudy 1st) in HDCF% in that time span.....

EDIT: same pretty much goes for 5 on 5...except he's 1st in HDCF%.

Rikki is playing better and better. I'm kind of thrilled with our D depth. Ruhwedel too. Not perfect of course, but not incompetent either.

Marino was awesome again last night. Sharp passes. Shrugging off players and skating the puck out of the D zone.

The D depth is good...there's basically a very capable 2nd pairing/top 4 on the shelf currently. Dumo- Schultz.

Haven’t really been able to watch the last two games since I’m traveling. Watched some recaps... Tanev. Man, his contract is looking better and better.

Galchenyuk, Bjug and Schultz could be nice pieces. I mean, the Pens are getting by just fine without them.
- Cousinskrid

Galchenyuk - Best case is to trade him for someone like Craig Smith. More likely we could fetch a 3rd round pick or a serviceable bottom 6 guy. (Someone like buffalo taking a flyer)

Bjug - best case is packaging him in a hockey deal to a center hungry team for a good winger (Zucker).

Schultz - Marino made a Schultz trade possible but always have to worry about a Letang injury. Prob best for him to ride out the season with us. That said, he could be our best shot at a true impact wing.

What would it take to get Rakell by the way?

Is Shultz and Dumo still alive? any update on their timeline? SHultz should be dealt. Pens are rolling W/O him.

SO everyone crying about the Kessel trade and losing his production.....Kahun is having a better season and Tanev has more goals. Even Letang has more goals than Kessel so theres that.

Rakell likely costs a 1st and their choice of Addison, Legare or Poulin at the heart of the deal. I wouldn’t be shocked if they’d push to include someone like Blueger or Simon.

Best case scenario on Chucky is someone actually takes him off the Pens’ hands without having to retain salary.

Bjugs to Minny makes sense in my head partially because he's from there haha.

What about Staal in Minny? Any interest for him? He can play C or wing. His underlying numbers are still pretty good and 33 points in 45 games is solid as well. Signed for another season after this one and only 3.25 mill cap hit.

Heres my blockbuster trade proposal with the Wild:

To Pens:

Staal
Zucker

To Wild:

Bjugs
Galch
Adisson

This from Rotoworld yesterday:

Jason Zucker will be back in the lineup on Sunday against Vancouver.
Zucker was listed as a game-time decision going into Sunday's match. He took to the ice for the pregame warmup and took line rushes with Eric Staal and Mats Zuccarello. Zucker missed 10 games due to a fractured right fibula. He has 12 goals and 24 points in 34 games this season.

Because its a hockey rumors site, the Pens have a lot of cap space, there's a lot of speculation from good reputable hockey insiders that GMJR is looking for player(s) with term and GMJR has a history of making moves in January.

I'd keep Schultz we know he can work well with the team AND we can shelter him on the third pair now. Makes our right side pretty damn good. However if a good deal came up for him I wouldn't hesitate, just wouldn't shop him like Glach and Bjugs

I'd do a first one of those three prospects and Simon.

Why not? We have two pretty useless players to the pens making 9mil (Bjugs/Galch). Makes sense to move them and add even one good winger if not 2.

I think he probably means if the team is playing and doing so well why make trades or blockbusters....but teams can always be better IMO.

I meant to add that my trade wouldn't really effect the current lineup other than Galch and Agozzino/Blandisi, aka the lackluster not really providing much pieces, being removed and replaced with Staal and Zucker.

Bjugstad and Galchenyuk aren’t affecting this team’s success one way or another. Those are exactly the two players you’re looking to trade if you’re trying to upgrade on wing to replace G. Galchenyuk shouldn’t get a jersey on a healthy team and Bjugstad is either our 4th best center behind McCann or our fourth best RW behind Rust, Hornqvist, and (frank)ing Tanev somehow.

Rutherford kind of indicated he feels this team deserves anything he can do. I think he's even surprised they're doing this with all the injuries.

I agree entirely. Once they get into the playoffs and faced with the Caps, Bolts, B's, TO....they're going to need a top line wing at the very least. Guentzal was such a huge loss.

Yeah, I could only think of Grinder's response if he made it when he was getting ready to shoot haha.

It is a very curious decision. He actually had a decent attempt at the 5 hole. Still, though, you have to get a guy like Tanev in there before him. Sully really likes Simon, though.

I listened to the post-game show and Sully said they have shootout stats for last season as well as for the last 3 years, so maybe Simon edged out Tanev with a slightly higher percentage.

- Hockey66

I doubt they used past stats. According to twitter, JJ is actually 4 for 5 career on shootouts. Meanwhile Blueger was 0 for 2 as a professional. I'd imagine it's a gut call for Sully.

Riikola has played really well lately. I feel like it might be a good idea to give them a few more minutes and not burn out their top 4 guys as much.
