Wouldn't you rather see if he can train over summer and get his body in different shape so that he can score like he did last season. Because trading him now at his low value is like feeding him to the vultures. - jhawk59
He needs to train at getting taller. |

Probably going to take 5-6 years. I would have to understand the "buyout" dollar structure before I went for more than 5 years. |

If the Hawks allow Lehner to walk, they are dumber than I thought possible. Keep this beast in Chicago's stable.

Bogey, I’ll disagree with you on daddy, One tough son of a female dog that definitely could be a top 4 defenseman and was a top 4 defenseman.
If the Blackhawks had a defenseman like that playing in this year‘s lineup they would be kissing his bare ass . Brent Seabrook was the closest thing to that type of player in his younger years. |

WTC..i will amend my assessment and comment. He could play and had some offense to his game. And no question about his toughness. I was reacting more to that era of the NHL and complete idiocy that was encouraged and allowed. You know I have been outspoken on the whole fighting farce that fortunately is becoming less and less part of the game.

Good Game tonight ,really did not think the HAWKS played that bad against Preds and Flames . Liked the line combinations today . Highmore doesn't look like he is anymore ,that line was very effective . Dach and Boqvist look like they are in over their heads most of the time ,but it a new league younger and faster, and it apparent they are getting on the job training .Nylander has some real talent and flash it at times ,I would hang onto him . As for Lehner just plain great again ,bend but don't break , stone wall when needed . .Like to see Lehner sign for 6 years at 7 mil would be fair . GO HAWKS !!!! |

trading ADB is absurdly stupid...
my gawd he is having an off year with scoring but has improved his all around of game and we are suppose to trade a 22 yearold 40 goal scorer who just signed a 3 year cap friendly 3 year extension...
absurdly stupid - bogiedoc
He is not someone you want to trade. The Cat is a perennial 40 even could hit 50 gosls assuming he gets his overly muscle bound body in proper frame.
I listed a trade only because we were playing Anaheim and I do not like Strome but maybe Rakel on Anaheim. Strome is too one dimensional offense so while I like the big body play maker he is, nonetheless, he is too one dimensional for my preference.
If Kane line one and DeBrincat line 2 then I want reliable center or grudgingly a reliable wing on each line. Strome cannot be slotted as #1 center when Toews is not playing well. Strome as a wing- maybe. Just draft a top center please in 2020 draft.
And as i said in an earlier post, this is not the time to even consider DeBrincat being moved - his value is at a low level. Let him return to form next year. Then we probably do not wish him to leave |

They drafted their next number 1, in Dach. Strome will be 23 in March and will be a good 2C for the Hawks. We complained forever about the Hawks lack of depth down the middle and now we want to get rid of it.
Strome looked better on his skates and in his own zone to me this year. Still learning and was going to likely be 60 pt player who appeared to be gaining confidence in the offensive zone as well.
If I had to guess, the Hawks see Dach as their likely 1C in 2 seasons. If Toews can still play the way he has been toward the end of his deal that would be a nice 1-3. People want a tear down but no one is taking on Toews' cap hit...not with 3 more seasons left anyway.

In the Herald this morning...
So close!
Dominik Kubalik missed notching his first NHL hat trick in the waning moments of the Hawks' 4-2 victory Saturday when his long attempt sailed just wide of the far post.
"I was shaking. Nervous. I was like, 'Whatever,' " said Kubalik, who then added with a chuckle: "When I missed the first one, I was looking to pass the (next) one because my confidence was gone. Didn't believe (in) myself."
Kubalik's goals came in the second period and gave the Hawks 2-1 and 3-1 leads. Both came on rebounds in front of the net, a phase of the game the rookie has been working on all season.
"Guys call them greasy, but I think they're nicest," said Kubalik, who is tied for the rookie lead with 16 goals. "When you're standing there and the puck just drops in front of you, you just put it home."

Yes this also. Couple it with his cap hit means he likely isn't going anywhere...but if he can play like he has been the better part of last 2 seasons, that's not horrible.

TBD...
I am like other's here (like sage), nylander is only 21...he has skills/talent...can he get it togehter in other areas to be consistent top line guy (25/35 = 60 pts) in the coming year or 2. To early to quit on this guy. - bogiedoc

WTC - make sure you don't watch any highlights today of what went on last night between Mathew Tkachuk and Zach Kassian.
Tkachuk taking runs all over the ice at Kassian and Kassian punching Tkachuk in the head 10 times.
It's barbaric and will offend so many people on here. Just don't watch any of it, its not hockey. The NHL game needs more ballerinas like Nylander not these 2 brutes.
Bettman needs to step in and suspend these them forever. He knows there is no entertanment value to what they were doing. Just don't watch, it will hurt your eyes. |

Rick’s no Darth but pretty sure with this one. Let me try!
I’m going to go with sarcasm mixed in with the ridiculous hyperbole.
You can only have it one way you know. While I don’t mind the occasional dust up, if you don’t advocate for a guy that can ride shot gun and blast away at another player’s melon with his fists, it clearly means you don’t like the physical side of hockey.
Clearly such a position means you don’t like a team that can dish out a good clean check, play physical along the boards, take a hit to make a play, etc.
May need some work... |

Grudges held between villains never sell tickets or add to TV viewing numbers for any sport.
Every player in hockey has a plan as to how he or she will play the game. That is until he or she gets punched in the face. (I believe that comes from the great philosopher Craig Berube coach of the current Stanley Cup champions).

He doesn't show up until it's too late. He's paid for the whole season. His cap hit would be the bigger problem Kessel had a NTC and Pitt. showed him the light. Toews is infuriating and fantastic just like the team. |

'Boys will be boys' occasionally in a professional ice hockey game headquartered in North America. Both players should be temporarily banished to an assigned gulag as a designated commissar sifts over the report. Walt's boy and Mr. Kassian enjoyed the interaction. Why can't we?
