not lamenting and not comparing to him gus and not female doging. Gilbert brings physical play...thats nice but his defensive metrics are no better and maybe worse than brandon manning when he was here...so if you want to make an argument that gilbert contributes to winning games and with his poor defensive game by pounding his fists into an opponents helmet...please do

and really let go of the old tired false dichotomy or strawman of figure skating vs hockey...

I do have a different POV about "fighting" ..is that OK...do i need your permission to do so..

- bogiedoc

He's better than defensively Gus, can we agree on that? The kid actually plays defense. Gus just all around sucks save an occasional goal and has almost (if not definitely) cost this team a few games already with his pizza serving ways and falling on his ass whilst trying to skate backwards. Um, sorry not letting the fighting thing go. Fighting has been around since hockey started, it will always be a part of the game. It was one of the aspects I loved most about it when I started watching in 87', it's a MAN's sport. No you don't need my permission because I was just making a point and really could care less about your opinion to be honest...as is true of the reverse I'm sure.

My issue with JP is that he has been with Edm with (I believe) three different coaches, and none of them have seen enough to keep him with the team. He's had one good AHL season and not much else.
- Chunk

Yeah I can definitely see where you're coming from. I'm not advocating JP should be a target of the team. However, if they offered him for Gus I wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger on the deal because Gus has no future with this team.

Not saying that it would really work out, but I'd rather give him a shot next year with the team than have to continue to watch Gus roam around thinking he's Paul Coffey while being clueless as to where he should be defensively

If fighting was one of the primary things that drew you to hockey, then that’s pretty pathetic in my opinion...

Me man. Me fight.

...I know, you don’t care about my opinion.

Seriously though...Great to see how you’ve matured since you were 13. What other parts of your 13 year old self are still prevalent in your life at age 45? Let me guess, you also still love the movie “Dirty Dancing” and you have Def Lepard’s “Hysteria” playing on a continuous loop in your car.

Leave Def Lep out of this, Hysteria is a great album.

Hi, Murph. Do you watch international hockey, such as the Olympics?

To me, those games are a tough, hard-nosed game, without fighting.

Not sure if this was covered. This is Tanner’s list of players of the decade, can’t make this up.
Hockey. Hockey. Sports. Best NHL players of the decade were Jake Gardiner, Cody Franson, David Runblad and Darcy Kuemper.

Somewhat good news:

Jimmy Greenfield‏ @jcgreenx · 50m50 minutes ago
Jeremy Colliton said Dylan Strome won't play tomorrow but doesn't sound like his anke injury is long-term though he's unsure of timeline.

Charlie Roumeliotis‏Verified account @CRoumeliotis · 1h1 hour ago
Robin Lehner admitted he thought knee injury could keep him out for a few weeks, but it wasn’t as bad as originally expected. He’s ready to go. #Blackhawks

- Chunk

Yep. Promising news on Strome.

Sounds like Caggiula might be back too. What a welcomed sight that would be.

In all fairness he does have speed, but yeah, no hands. AEL said he was the most improved player at the Rock, so let’s give him one more look and see, you never know. Or we can see if Smith improves at 30...

Exactly. With Boqvist now "online" and Seabrook still here - that takes two of the three starting RD spots. Murphy is the other RD right now - so how do Boqvist, Mitchell, Murphy and Seabrook fit into 3 RD spots and keep everyone happy?
- EbonyRaptor

There is a press box seat, 7th D-man or LTIR for Seabrook that allows these 4 to co-exist.

1987?

Here's the rules. "The IIHF is much more strict on fighting than the NHL is. If you fight in the NHL you’ll have to sit for at least five minutes before being able to return, whereas in an international event you won’t be back in the game."

https://www.sportsnet.ca/...ks-youll-notice-olympics/

Fighting is RARE in Olympic and International hockey. Question remains - does a blood thirsty person watch Olympic hockey? Or is it "man enough"?

Edit. As of 2014 there had been 8 fights in about 500 Olympic games. Why watch?

now lets trot out "i don't care about your opinion" meme...ok

to quote ogie: "your're funny"

football is a "MAN's" sport.. or maybe not in your manly opinion because there is no fighting...

whether you loved it or still do love is irrelevant...actually gus defensive metrics are much better than gilbert's...and my POV is one day NHL will grow up and get rid the phoniest and dangerous part of the "game" called fighting...it will happen I don't know what the catalyst will be: a player getting seriously disabled or worse, more data about CTE and a huge law suit...

why do you post and interact with others opinions "if you don't care"...and now its time for name calling...

is this your style of dialogue and engagement with everyone you disagree with..

All the side shows aside, watching the Flyers now, just wish it would’ve worked out for Kevin Hayes here Instead of watching a few of these clowns that have been playing on our forward lines this year. Better yet let’s put it this way,the only two that I would not take him ahead of would be 19 and 88 and possibly 12. I am not talking about a rookie like Kirby Dach ,He’s exempt. But Kevin Hayes is the exact type forward this team can use right now.

Conner McDavid would make little difference with this years team with the current defense. Hayes would make no difference.
