Never would’ve guessed😂
We’re both on the same page as far as acquiring Pageau or some other player maybe we don’t even know is available. How aggressive would you be? What would you be willing to give up to get whatever it is you think we need to be a stronger playoff team? - Cptmjl
I think the team has the base and core to make a run given they get out of this funk they are in. That said I think adding Pageau and another forward upfront is definitely a move they are exploring for sure.
What it’s gonna cost Cpt. Is a moving target as year to year things seem to change because of demand and availability.
Gotta think Pageau will require a 2nd and 3rd or 2nd and a prospect? But if a team wants him it may take a first rounder plus. Would that be too much for a 3C?
Who else is there Kreider, Toffoli and maybe Hoffman if the Cats are out of PO contention?
Hoffman is a goal scorer that could help for sure but like Pageau they may not be available. |

I would give up a first for him and a 2nd plus for Toffoli. If we could give up a first and a 3rd for Pageau and a depth defenseman from Ottawa I do it without even thinking about it.
Throw Bellows into the mix for any of the above if need be. Do what it takes to improve the team. |

I don’t disagree. You have to give to get and go for it when it’s there. I have to think the next couple of weeks will be very important as to what Lou feels he can let go to improve. I think Toffoli will probs be traded before the deadline but the others are going to be deadline moves in my opinion.
I do think a depth d man would be nice as well as if we get another injury Aho and Dobson aren’t making me warm and fuzzy unless Hickey is close to a return. |

Dobson looks like he’ll be something. He’s got to put on some muscle he’s 6’4” and 185 lbs 😂. He’ll take his lumps like he did last night but that’s part of the process with young D men. I’m looking forward to seeing what Aho has to offer. |

I think you’ll see Aho next game. For me I think Dobson will be a player and a good one for sure but like we have said needs to thicken up a bit. Aho, I’m not convinced. I think he’s to small. Just my opinion, hope I’m wrong. |

I would throw Dobson right back out there. We kept the kid up because he was to good for junior knowing we couldn’t send him to the A. He has been practicing and playing the occasional game with the big club all season. Give him the opportunity to play some games and learn from them...
Trotz doesn’t give the kid time to play at this point they should’ve just let him stay with his junior team and you know actually play and sent him to the AHL when his season was done and next season. |

True however if Aho is the better option how are you going to know? I trust in whatever Barry does at this point. He sees them daily at practice so.
Pelech injury sucks |

Not certain, but I believe Dobson is totally ineligible for the AHL this season, even AFTER his junior season ends. |

Wasn't Aho having a real good season in Bridgeport? If so, he should be rewarded with the opportunity to show what he's got.
Edit: Just looked it up. 2 goals, 18 assists in 34 games and a -12. Not sure I'd call that "real good", although he is the team's points leader. |

The team is once again underperforming which is par for the course in Bridgeport. |

Great coaching. Thompson will be coaching Bridge longer than Garrett was in Dallas. |

Not sure if anyone discussed it and I don't feel like going back to check, but Toews has been pretty awful lately. Not really enjoying his game. |

It has been discussed chief. Toews has been struggling. Dobson was beat the other night but Toews should have taken the pass away. |

Nice. Kind of expected Trotz to throw Dobson back out there. Think it’s a good move if he gets burned again they’ll probably throw Aho out next game I would guess. |

💯
His outlet passes seem to get picked off 50% of the time and he seems to be a step behind which is weird the kid can skate. Definitely off his game... |

Does it make sense to sit Toews for Aho for a game? |

At the risk of being verbally assaulted, I'll say that I'm only really thinking out loud here...but I wonder if they don't try to use Toews as trade bait this offseason. That would assume that they think Aho can provide comparable value at a significantly cheaper cost, but a young-ish top-4 defenseman that won't sign a big ticket deal should have some good value in a trade. He'd be a really great piece on a deep team. |

I think it has to be at least explored chief if Aho shows he can play. I was thinking moving Leddy this offseason is more likely. If Lou continues to strike out with quality FA's, Isles will need to deal some defense. |

Yeah, this is what I want to see Dobson do. I want to see how he responds to things like getting torched for a goal or having a bad game. So far, whether he played a good or bad game, he was almost certainly out of the lineup the following game. I want to see him face some adversity and see how he responds. He seems really mature for his age and I think he handles it just fine, but I'm interested to see it actually happen. |

Gotta think that might happen sooner than later. I think they've scored something to the tune of 12 goals in their last 6 games, or something like that. That's just...brutal.
I've been fairly critical of Bellows, but it's impossible to ignore what he's been doing lately. Doubly-so when the big club can't score to save their (frank)ing lives. |

I would put Bellows with Brassard and give him some games. MDC is just not brining the offense. Something needs to be done with that 3rd line while Lou looks for some deals. Lou has to show moves will be made and it's not going to be like before where the players get forever to show something. |
