Oof "The Islanders’ prospect pool is not that attractive — “Everything good they have is on their roster,” one rival executive said Monday — so aiming for depth additions may also be the only way to upgrade for Lamoriello, using mid-round draft picks to scoop up forwards."
- Upstate_isles

I will agree with this rival Executive, unfortunately.

Isles need to start finding some impact forwards in the draft. Again I'm not sure why Lou did not clean house with the scouts?

I've said this as well, after dobson and wahlstrom they have nothing except picks and that's not really what they want to part with and why they went after panarin with big money. Sadly they still cant land a big fish and I dont expect anything major tradewise. If a 2nd and 3rd doesnt land pageau then I'm not sure they do anything

Hes had 1 deadt that was his teams really and the draft is a crapshoot a lot of times. If you dont get a top 2 or 3 pick you never know

Not really sure why a first wouldn’t be in play? Why is a late first so untouchable at this stage of the game?

Draft is a crapshoot which is why you need really good scouts. Isles really need to start hitting on some FA's since they do not look to be in the lottery soon.

I also do not expect anything major with the assets the Isles have.

I would be open to moving a #1 in the right deal but the lack of high end forwards prospects might have Lou nervous. Isles need a modern day Jimmy D for the draft.

He may part with it idk but they do need to restock the system too. If they do move the 1st it needs to be for an impact player that resigns or has term left

Lou has added a lot of Scouts to the organization and he has only really had 1 draft with the Islanders where HIS staff and scouts had time together to analyze and judge the talent available in the draft really which was this past spring.

This is the thing. Isles are not in a position to give up a #1 for a player that can walk. Another question is there a player that can put the Isles over the top?

I thought Lou keep a lot of the scouts in place who were working for Garth?

Wahlstrom, Sorokin and Wilde are not attractive prospects?

These 3 seem to be but Isles are lacking at forward depth in terms of high impact prospects.

It shouldn’t be untouchable, though I’d much rather it be spent on a forward with a wee bit of term.

They are good but I'm sure the isles dont want to lose them or they have nothing in the system either. Not easy being an NHL gm with all of these factors

Yeah the forward prospects are meh.

Speaking of forwards, think Lou can pry one or two away from the Sharks? San Jose is sinking fast, tight against the cap and without a 1st round pick.

Apparently Aho, Wahlstrom, Wilde, Bellows, Holstrom, are not attractive prospects. One guy that may top out as a top four and two guys that pretty much every scout unanimously said will most likely not make the nhl plus a first and a conditional were enough for Hall.

Yeah. If it takes a first a late one at that to get what we need you do it. I can’t even wrap my head around being 2nd to 4th in the nhl the entire season and we’re still worried about a 22-26 first rd pick. That’s Garth Snow in a nut shell. Sorry that’s (frank)ing nuts to me😂

I don’t think said executive was actually identified. Probably a member of the Flames organization.
