Id trade both. Right now, exactly how much are either helping this team win? Theyre both gonna walk after this year, so why not get players who can help now or into the future? Even if Murray doesnt "walk" how much should we pay for a goalie who isnt starting? - nateca44
Murray ain’t walking this year. He’s an RFA lol |

Who is taking him for granted? Pretty sure everyone on this forum knows he’s been our second most important piece in us banking points while so short handed after Malkin. Honestly, a very credible argument can be made that he’s been more important than Geno. - Victoro311
Prior to the second Horny goal, Jarry faced a one on one with Marleau and made an outstanding save. To me, the Pens rallied at that point and Horny equalized soon after. I merely was stating that it started from that great stand. I wasn't calling out any one... |

Does he have the leverage or do the Pens? I don't know how it works with hockey. Can he refuse to play? or demand a trade? I just think itd be wise to avoid that whole situation. I wouldnt pay him over what he's making now and he's going to ask for more. |

Leverage wise, I’m not really sure. On his side he’s got 2 cups (even though Fleury helped immensely with the 2nd one). He’s has 2 decent seasons with 49 and 50 starts. But on the Pens side he’s also had 1 meh season and 1 horrendous season. If they aren’t sold on Jarry, I think arbitration is probably the likely route.
He’ll probably as for 7.5m and the Pens will offer 4.25 and they’ll go somewhere in between. He could refuse to play like the Marner or Nylander, whoever it was, situation. But I dunno. I’d be surprised if that happens. He could request a trade but I’m not sure if I see that happening either. |

From my eyes, ultimately the Pens have the leverage because they have another young tender who (at this moment) appears to be a viable NHL starter. That being said, I can't see the Pens offering sizable deals to both Jarry and Murray 'cause both are RFA's and the expansion draft is just a year away. One of these guys will be moved.
Edit... I've felt the Pens should let it play out this season. If Jarry goes down long term, I'd be more comfortable with Murray than DeSmith for a big chunk of games. With this Jake injury.... Man, I think they need to make available resources that they might not have considered before he was lost for the season. If somebody wants Murray for a good wing, I'm pulling the trigger. |

Dumb question as I don't understand the IR rules, but, why wasn't Schultz placed on the IR if they knew the injury was going to be longer term and why hasn't Guentzel been place on any list if its known that he's out for 4-6 months? |

I dunno though. GMJR did pay 3.25m for a bottom pair defenseman, and 4M for another bottom pair defenseman at the beginning of this season. He has no problem paying depth positions, good or bad. |

Pens played a great game last night. Few mistakes cost them goals but overall they were the better team. I'm gonna take the point and move on while keeping fingers crossed for a stud'ish winger acquisition soon. - MattStrat
Best take away for me was McCann and Hornqvist looked great together. I haven't always liked that pairing.
He's still injury prone, but it's nice to see Hornqvist refound the scoring touch he lost the second half last year. |

Yeah, I'm rethinking some things as well. This is a really good team and you don't know how many of those Crosby and Malkin will have. I'd like to keep the goalie depth for this year's run, but I'd be more tempted to gamble for the right return now. |

Pens typically only put a guy on IR when they need a roster spot. Until then, it doesn't matter.
I don't understand all of how LTIR works, but if you're using it to stay under the cap you can't bank space each day, so teams try to avoid it if they can which is why the Pens aren't using it. They might eventually with Jake, but the longer we can avoid it the better. |

Evolving Hockey's top 20 GAR list is mostly made up of the league's top players: McDavid, Marchand, Matthews, MacKinnon, Pietrangelo, etc.
Three Pens are on the list: Rust, McCann, and Marino. Exactly what everyone predicted and at about 5.5M combined. |

So MON took a chance on Kovy ($700K). |

Just because I'm bored, What do yinz see come next season as in signing McCann for how much? Do they sign a veteran Dman or start Addison or Joesph? It looks like theyll have decent amount of cap to spend. |

Surprised he went there as mtl is not making the playoffs imo. Toronto is flying and Tampa will make it. But at least we will see how kovy plays tomorrow for a whopping 700k 2 way deal. |

I guess the simple truth is that the contenders think not too high on him (currently), and in MON he now can immediately be top6 - so maybe he wants to play himself in position for next year or trade deadline. |

Yeah true. He isn’t worth anything if he isn’t playing. Worst case mtl adds a 7th round pick come deadline |
