I think Markstrom will get at least 4 years and it is crazy to hold onto Demko 4 years as a back up when he has trade value.
Personally I am not a huge fan of Demko anyways. I think he is still far from being ready. He does have big games but he also can still be easily rattled. - VANTEL
I guess my dream of another tank season is now dead. Resigning Marky to a longish contract and dumping Demko indicates rebuilding is done. And that makes me sad. |

He doesn’t need to carry the Canucks, the team just needs solid goaltending, he’s proven to be a good young goaltender. Short memories but Markstroms had his share of troubles with consistency and he’s 30 years. - Pacificgem
Roughly half the league, has a goalie in his 30's, including Bostonx2, TML, Dallas, Florida, Washington, Vegas, Carolina, Minnesotax2, Nashville, NYR, Montreal, LA, and NYI.
Some pretty decent teams on that list, I am not concerned about a 30 year old goalie, as they tend to be solid into mid-30's.
I do get your point though. Having a potential good young goalie, exposed to expansion, is not a good situation for any team, nor is it a good situation to have a goalie in his prime, like Matkstrom, exposed.
1 of them will have to be moved and Benning will have to evaluate that over the next 3-15 months. |

That is a lot of trading
After seeing Markstrom playing so well and a few teams looking for Goalies I would look at moving Demko and bringing in MacIntyre for the rest of the year.
As some may hate it , this team needs Markstrom - VANTEL
I completely agree that this team needs Markstrom right now. Moving Demko sounds like a great idea at times as long as Van is getting the NYR treatment and teams are way overpaying for the unknown.
I really don't have a problem with trading either for a good price. It's going to happen sooner or later.
As for the rest of the trading, it's time to break down the parts that aren't core. |

I really like the production of the 4th line, Gaudette and Roussel averaging 0.55 ppg, and Jake averaging 0.54ppg, is excellent 4th line production. |

You have three options.
Trade Markstrom and sign a cheap vet back up to stabilize Demko.
Trade Demko and bring up Dipietro next season.
Keep both and risk having to pay or losing one in the expansion draft.
I'm willing to bet that JB goes for as long as he can and ends up with the latter. |

I think it will come down to moving parts ( not trading) .
I don't think other teams want stuff we want to throw away like Schaller.
I think Sven will be bought out in the Summer.
After Loui gets his bonus this summer , he should retire and Canucks give him a golden umbrella deal as cheif cook and bottle washer with the organization for 1 mil a year for the next 5 years.
Sutter will probably stay on LTIR very soon |

JB will be ok if he asks for picks only. It’s the teams ability to assess pro talent that’s got them into trouble most times.
That’s why I’m sad that you are trading Demko. I want more young developing talent like Demko and less late bloomers like Marky.
Don’t do it Vantel, don’t do it... |

There was so much negative chatter before the tournament on how team Canada was built (more than usual) there’s no surprise things aren’t going well. |

I personally believe DiPietro is better than Demko but that debate would open pages and pages of screaming so I won't , I will just leave it at Demko is easily replacable Markstrom not so much. |

Get a stool so you can see over the boards FFS |

Not by icetime they aren't, which is how most of us educated hockey fans determine those types of things.😁 |

Beagle Schaller and Motte are the fourth line lol, but you keep looking at those numbers and forget about special teams and game situations |

Bo at 0.72 and Tanner at 0.62 ppg, playing against the other teams top lines, is still pretty good production, now if they could get another decent winger, that line would be just fine. |

No, I keep forgetting how bad the coach is at playing players earlier in games, when players have earned a few extra shifts.
I don't need a stool to see that, I think maybe you need to take off your rose-colored glasses, as you seem to be defending Green a little to much.😁 |

What have you been reading that suggests DiPietro is better? I’ve only read really good reviews on Demko. Haven’t read much on DiPietro.
I don’t think it’s too controversial a topic and is rather timely considering the team position this season and the upcoming expansion draft.
At least that topic would be more significant than the usual bile we serve up on a daily basis. |

If I was Benning, I would be concerned about Demko's concussion history, he has had 2 in a season and a half.

People have this image of Mike D against the Sharks 8-1 beating but that is so far removed. That was an emergency game.
We all watched Mike D for team Canada and for the most part he is solid. I have seen him play every game he has played this year and he is cool as a cucumber. Solid positional acrobatic goalie. He really does remind me of a young J Quick.
He has stole at least 3 games for the Comets this year. He has taken over the #1 spot in a quarter of the season, something that took Demko two seasons to accomplish.
Demko gives up goals in bunches and when they start going in he looks like he has no business being at that level. His team mates say he is calm but inside he looks like panic mode when things start to rattle.
I have seen a few times how easy Demko can become rattled and that concerns me more than anything. He is a good positional goalie but I do prefer Mike D |
