LAK 3-2 OT Luvin it - Nighthawk
SJ 3rd last, did not see that coming. Doug Wilson has a mess on his hands. They’ve been good for fifteen years but their times up. |

The Pacific is much more open for Canucks to move up this season.
Winning that game against Vegas was a turning point. They can believe in themselves and grow the confidence needed to win the battles ahead. |

I just looked at an Athletic article on nhl averages, Canucks were 16th and SJ was 17th for average age on October 4th when the article was published, anyway, the Canucks have the tallest team in the league....who knew. |

I think it makes way more sense to look at the average age of the team's top 9(or 6) forwards in ATOI + top 4 dmen in ATOI + starting goalie
equal weight being put on a team's top center and 7th dman when evaluating average age seems stupid to me. |

Not hockey related but just read this article about a women who won a court battle over being charged empty home tax. The Point Grey property was assessed last year at $26,789,000, but only $10,000 of that value was for the home itself.

He's already pissed away picks so I don't know what this guy is talking about. He sent McCann to Florida for a guy he's already gotten rid of. Forsling for Clendenning. He sent the 33rd overall pick to get Sutter, who's an ok player but we haven't won jack poop with him on the roster.
No need to go on, Benning is no different than any other GM we've had except he's lost more so he got better draft positions. - Pacificgem
Everyone points to the Guddy trade, and rightfully so b/c it was a horrible trade but Benning has learned from some of his poorer decisions.
By consistency I mean Benning is attempting to establish a culture of accountability. He sacrificed some draft picks early on in order to add stop gap players. Benning felt his young guys needed some players to relate to (closer in age) and some vets to learn from (to help his young draft picks transition to the NHL ie added some parenting to supplement hockey development). Now that the young “core” is in place, I expect he will retain more and more draft picks. His process is up for debate and yet to be proven right or wrong yet (despite what some may claim).
I think Benning’s focus on the psychological side of player development will pay dividends. We’ll see if he can pull it off and prove people wrong but if the Canucks make the playoffs this year and continue to improve next year, it will be hard to say he hasn’t completed a solid, sneaky rebuild. |

Go after Palmieri or J Anderson?
Demko in a package going the other way.
Both teams can use a goalie |

I think right now Canucks big concern is to resign Markstrom and figure out Tanev and Stecher. I don't see both coming back.
The team is pretty well set and I don't think they are going big fish hunting.
Listening to the Swedish coach yesterday he said Hoglander will be NHL good in two years. He thinks he could play next year but you will get the better version in two years.
A couple of Comets look close and will replace some expiring contracts.
I think fans should be patient for the next two years. |
