If I were a GM, I'd be a great one , I wouldn't ever pay anyone past the age of 33. Evander Kane's deal is perfectly fine with me. The kids a goal scorer and he'll be 33 the last year of his deal.
Scheifele and MacKinnon are two examples of smart deals out of an ELC. - Pacificgem
Yeah those are two of the best deals because they weren't very good to start their careers.

So was Logan Couture. A five year deal would have made much more sense. |

I’m joking anyway. I just want to be part of the hysteria.
All indication is they are heading in the right direction. Just a lot of bumps and detours along the way so far. If JB was just a bit better at evaluating pro-talent we would be further ahead than we are now.
I find that irritating. - bloatedmosquito

8 year deal at 8 million for a player that has never even been a pgg. He's only ever broken 70 points once. He's basically the older version of Horvat.
Both 9oa picks too.
I guess we know what Bo's going to get on his new contract. |

It seems like good young RFA players and their agents have learned their lessons and most of them want shorter term deals or big money if it's a long term deal. |

I’m never going to be happy with any Canuck regime. History has taught me that.
Has there ever been a Canuck management group that hasn’t imploded from its own stupidity? |

The Draisaitl deal looks awesome now, at 8.5 million he's underpaid. He's a better player than Auston Matthews and he's making 3.5 million less. |

I think it’s hilarious to watch ex players get fat. The fatter the funnier. Like Deadmarsh fat or Tkachuck fat.

Until we win I'll always be riding someones ass in Canucks management about something. I know it's not Bennings fault, but the 45 years before he got here hasn't done him any favors, along with his own stupidity.
Four times in our history we've had several good young players and still haven't won the Cup, that's why I reserve judgment on what's happening now, I've been around for the whole thing. |

Matthews didn't deserve 3% more than Drais.
Its Toronto they have to overpay their stars otherwise they go back to the states. |

If they were smart they'd trade Matthews for a 5 million dollar center and a defenseman. They've seriously hurt their depth by signing those three guys to big deals, it's great watching them fail....again |

Yup, not only great young players but cup quality rosters too. Yet nothing to show for it.
What bothers me most is the one and done repetitive history. We challenge for a cup and then the following season nothing.
Good franchises keep the momentum going season after season. Don’t understand why Canucks can’t do it. |

No one can figure this out, for whatever reason? Gillis had another good roster in 2012 but they ran into an absolute machine in Jonathan Quick and the LA Kings, they steamrolled everyone that year. |

Keep Matthews and get rid of Tavares.
All joking aside, you know how good Matthews is. He’s a unique talent. |

He brought credibility and structure to a joke of a franchise, so much so that other teams are trying to poach him now. |

Tavares is a better player though, because he's not so one dimensional. Matthews is a great player, but he's pure and simply a shooter, he should be on the wing. |

Pens have done it with Crosby, Malkin, Letang. It took a few years for the cap to go up for them to get space to sign some other players.
Draft and develop, get players under ELC and doing really well. Stop trading for instant success.
Toronto is on a 5 game winning streak btw. (I know you don't look at other teams) - manvanfan
But the thing with Crosby and Malkin is they're true centers, the can distribute the puck and score, Matthews is just a scorer, his goals are always higher than his assists.
I'm just being overly critical, I'd love to have him and Tavares down the middle. Both are fantastic players. I just have issues with centers who can't distribute the puck and make players around them better....like Horvat, for instance. |
