It was a chance to retain the playoff position or fall to 9th and start the slide toward obscurity. Is it the literal definition of must-win? No. But it was literally important to retaining a playoff spot, symbolically important that they can't beat the senators and it was one game removed from their worst performance in years (flyers).

Can they turn it around? Yes. Does this look anything like a playoff team currently? No.

Ottawa isn't as easy to best as most assume they are from what is written. They have nothing to lose and no pressure on them because, well, they're supposed to suck. They've played a lot of "good" teams very tough. It is so tightly packed in the division that a couple wins in a row dramatically changes things, and a couple losses in a row has people freaking out. There is half a season to play still. Saying one loss to Ottawa is the death knell is, imo, highly over reacting.
