He failed by not bringing in a 2C, so the forwards that he DID bring in could've played where they were supposed to.

However, most of the F's he brought in provided their former teams with secondary scoring and there was no indication that they weren't going to do that here.

Vesey will start scoring. He’s shot below his expected goal total.

Sheary will probably go on another run where he has 3-4 in 3 games like he always does.

Okposo is around the net a lot and will probably net a few.

- sbroads24

Hot take: Vesey has been our most dangerous and exciting offensive player outside of Eichel.

He constantly gets breakaways and the first 20 games were rough for him, but he has some finesse, just no finish.

I want to bring him back on a short-term deal. I say 2-3 years at 3 or 4 million. He has more upside than Sheary - can kill penalties, too.

After the first 10 games, he did nothing for me.

Why the god damn ever living hell every single coach that comes here makes us play a dump-and-chase system is beyond normal human comprehension.

Dolphins are doing quite well in Foxborough. The Pats don’t lose there though so what a wasted effort

- Buff36

how is his in game adjustment?
doesn't happen

how does he use the time outs when we are down 1 or 2 goals and the other team is taking it to us
doesn't use them

how does the team respond when the goalie gets shelled and switched mid game
doesn't happen

pp starts to struggle, take skinner off first team, it gets worse
go figure

how is the chemistry in the middle 6, there is none

he followed housley's playbook and leans on larsson, girgs and okposo

joker and dahlin get the fewest minutes on D

show me how we are better and he is better as a coach as the season has progressed

I took the time for a lengthy post showing my reasons

prove me wrong instead of a 2 second smart a$$ response

I had to google this quote to see what the hell you're talking about. It appears you are again quoting from broke back mountain, I presume, in an effort to insult those who like fishing or the outdoors? You do realize that repeatedly quoting from that movie means that you have watched it repeatedly and have memorized it, correct? I'd rather spend my time fishing personally. Anything you want to tell us Beady?

Botterill came into the season with 10 NHL defensemen:

Ristolainen
McCabe
Montour
Dahlin
Miller
Jokiharju
Scandella
Bogosian
Gilmour
Pilut

So regardless of forward depth you have the issue that NHL ready players are stuck in the AHL or being scratched. All this does is further the perception of organizational incompetence and create more morale problems and disharmony.

These players are playing for their livelihood. They want a chance to show what they can do for future contracts. They want a chance to make NHL money to support their families instead of AHL money. This just exacerbates the current problem of players not wanting to be in this organization.

Instead of addressing this in the off-season when it would be easier to make moves, the brain damaged GM did nothing. He needed to move some of these defensemen for forwards, there’s no argument possible to defend him.

So instead Mittelstadt’s development was ignored out of desperation setting him back if not ruining his career because we are so desperate for help at center. Instead we have a 9 million dollar winger playing with inadequate centers.

Fans defend Botts saying that players like Vesey and Sheary were expected to score more and that there was no way Botts could know that these players would underperform are wrong.

First off, yes there was a way to know that these players would underperform. Their past performance was with NHL centers, how can you expect these players to score with the centers they are playing with? Secondly, their lack of production has been offset with the emergence of Olofsson and his production.

This is gross negligence by the GM. He has only made the morale problems worse. This is why we have to overpay virtually every player who has a choice where they can play to get them to agree to play here.

We blame players like Skinner, Vesey and Sheary for not scoring when they have crap centers to play with.

I have never heard of a team acquiring 10 NHL defensemen talents and not making moves to help the obvious shortcomings of the forward group. If there is another example please point it out to me and tell me how long that GM kept his job.

I can understand the coach hire as we were desperately trying to improve the player’s morale and Krueger is known for that, but as far as hockey he isn’t a good coach. His handling of the goalies, the special teams, lack of adjustments, line pairings all suck.

Botts built a soft team, and as the season gets closer to the end and teams play harder this will only negatively affect us more.

We will not break 80 points this year. Careers are being wasted, the image of this organization is only getting worse, which is pretty hard to do considering where it’s been. Where does the blame belong? With the guy at the top who hired this incompetent GM.

You can laugh about the CTE issue all you like. All the evidence shows that the high majority of all brains studied from former professional athletes in Football, Boxing, Soccer and Hockey show CTE. There is a link to head trauma. The symptoms include cognitive decline. If this doesn’t bother you, I don’t know why. Don’t you want the GM of your team to have a high cognitive function? Doesn’t what we know about Botts point to the fact that he doesn’t? Doesn’t his past head trauma make it more than likely that he has it? If you disagree you are being willfully ignorant. Spend an hour on google looking into CTE.

Our owner is so stupid that he hires a GM who is highly likely to have brain damage. Then sees the results(keeping Housley too long, carrying ten defensemen, not addressing obvious shortcomings on the roster) which show an obvious likelihood that the GMs cognitive function is impaired, and doesn’t address it.

Everything is wrong with this organization. The unqualified owner wants to play a part in its management. The GM likely has brain damage and even if he doesn’t is performing like he does. The coaching staff isn’t good. Our drafting and development has been bad since Darcy left. The constitution of the team is flawed, we are soft and underskilled. And we are in a position where we have to pray that our few promising prospects turn into stars to save the hopes of the franchise’s future success.

God damn it’s hard to be a sports fan in this city.
