The long term future of this franchise is still bright. We have two players signed long term. Let’s say Botts does get the boot (which i think he gets another year), I would assume this GM job would be highly sought out for.

Botts sat on his hands all summer and pulled a straight Darcy move in signing Johansson, a Right Wing, and then pumping him up all summer as a center.

Absolutely missed on Mittelstadt at this point.

He lost me after the 10-game win streak last season by not bringing in anyone to improve the team then but at this point I couldn't care less if he gets fired or not. Krueger, too.

It's pretty clear they can't inspire this group or light a fire under their asses. Bogosian, Ristolainen both requested to be traded, both get to play, neither change the dynamic of this team.

Reinhart is a wimpy perimeter player who is dragging Eichel down, IMO. He needs to be dropped down a line, at least to provide some balance in the top-6 but for some reason, he has been parked there for 5 years now and while his play stays the same, Eichel's keeps rising and a Rookie on the opposite wing is outplaying him.

Ullmark tops out as a high end backup
- BeadyEyedDouche[EDIT]. The time to turn 1st round picks into roster players has passed and is overdue. The team's culture is stagnant and complacent.

Keeping Scandella and Miller is a better move than keeping Ristolainen and McCabe, IMO. Ristolainen continues to play the same game he always has, and he supposedly refuses to play system hockey, Reinhart, too.

If we look at the big picture here, I think he has set himself up for a huge offseason, whether or not he hits it out of the park is anyones guess.

We made an organizational commitment to tanking and it netted us some elite talent and other assets that can either be signed long term or used as trade bait (Eichel, Dahlin, Reinhart, Cozens, Mittelstadt, Joker, top 15 pick this year)

I don’t like the contract, but I can’t argue the fact Skinner is a very good hockey player. Montour is also a very good hockey player. Pilut should be here full time next year and Botts had a hand in all 3. Miller is a good 5/6 and should also be here or used as trade bait as well.

Risto was previous regime but has value as a #4 d-man here or used as a trade chip.

Say bye bye to Scandella, McCabe, Bogo, Sheary, Girgensons, Vesey, Erod.

Use Asplund, Davidsson, Samuelsson, Johnson as trade chips to bring in proven talent and spend the cap space wisely.

Well that’s a shame. I had a glimmer of hope that botts could swing big. But once Garth or ek post the “rumor” it’s as good as dead.... like rob ray saying the other teams pp has struggled....
