Hello from the East Coast all of you, a very Merry Christmas to you all. I just wanted to stop in quickly and say thank you for making Vigneault such a great coach, my two time Stanley Cup Flyers are a lock for the postseason this year because of him. - DraftandDestroy

I’m still waiting for someone to make a good argument for why he’s not better than or on par with Dahlin... - DrChristianTroy
I've been thinking it. It's a bold claim but there is definitely a good case for it.

Merry Christmas to you and your family Carol Thank you for all of your quality work over the year! |

Carol,
This is a few days early for New Years, but I want to say that I really appreciate your tireless, insightful and entertaining blogging throughout the year. There is no better place to get a dose of Canucks-mania than right here!
It‘s exciting to see you getting more opportunities to contribute your well-written & well-researched stories to more mainstream sports media. While I suspect it means that eventually we will see less of your work here, it will be because you are grabbing bigger & better spots and opportunities.
Thank you for everything you contributed to the HB Canucks community in 2019 and all the very best in 2020!

I was busy watching porn earlier but I did glance in here and seen a few people posting that there are too many teams to pass to reach the playoffs.
We are two points out of a spot. What some of you are missing is there is about 6 teams also trying to pass everyone to grab a spot. We are one point behind Calgary and a game in hand. It is not like it is a huge mountain to climb. Two points behind Edmonton with two games in hand.
The team has done the worst of their travel already and they have just as much of a chance as any other team in the Pacific.
I remember when we went on the Eastern Swing and a few said they would lucky to take two points. They came back .500 and also blew the lead in Pitts.
Last weekend some said we wouldn't win one of the three remaining games.
I don't think this group is as bad as fans expect them to be. |

There's no way I'm standing in line at Wal-Mart for Listerine today. I'm staying sober.

I'll chime in on that. My take is they're both fantastic players, BUT, Dahlin is a year younger than Hughes, he is also a great skater, he's six inches taller, 30 lbs heavier, all of which makes him able to handle the corners a bit better all the while still providing great offence. |

Yet the rookies numbers are much better than the 2nd year player. We'll see I guess.

As I said they're both fantastic players and a treat to watch. That said, again, Dahlin put up 44 points in the NHL as an 18 year old while Quinn Hughes was playing college hockey.
This year Dahlin is 19 putting up 0.70 points per game and Q. Hughes is 20 putting up 0.73 points per game...so I don't know where you're getting Hughes numbers " are much better"? Dahlin's played seven less games due to injury and he's scored seven less points.
I'd love to have either, but I think Dahlin is the better player just by a bit. |

Career average points per game is tracking differently.
Dahlin 0.58
Hughes 0.71
ozs%
Dahlin 58.9
Hughes 60.6
CF%
RD 52.2
QH 53.9
TOI
RD 20:37
QH 20:57
Their numbers are very close across the board. I am corrected.
If Dahlin's size is as much a difference as you claim, then Quinn Hughes is overcoming it. The deeper you go into the advanced stats, the more you see that there is little difference in most categories. Time will tell. I never made the claim that Hughes should go number 1... just said I thought about it and thats a bold claim. Since everything is so close, there is an argument that Hughes is as good. |
