Well, I'll explain my post since once again they are misrepresented by those who depend on going to far extremes to make a point.

It's called making a hockey trade, in which one party needs to give value in order to receive value.
The object of a hockey trade is to upgrade a position of need. .

- IonSabres

so you send sam and something else for a center for the second line

then have glaring needs for rw'ers

and you have 2 top 8 picks in the wings, and one of them should be able to be a second line center

this team can't score, reinhart has 130 points in his last 154 games

the goal of a trade should be a short term center for the second line, which would not require a player like reinhart to be moved, but rather picks and/or prospects

now if you need a long term solution for a second line center, then you have an incompetent gm, because he just used 2 picks in the top 8 over the last 3 years to draft a center

we are deep at goalies, d men and left wingers, that is what we should be moving if trying to acquire a center if not using picks

How do you reconcile acquiring a player if high skill...by throwing them trash?

Beane and McDermott have made the playoffs 2/3 years without being handed a "Jack Eichel" when they took over.

The other GM has plenty of excuses though

- jcragcrumple

The Sabres are on pace for 91 Something points this season. Will be 92 with a win tonight.

That was your thing. 90 points.

Remember when I offered context in this debate and you refused and just wanted scoreboard?

They’re on pace for exactly what you felt they needed to give him another year

That "mess" included inheriting Jack Eichel. The single hardest piece for a GM to acquire.

Some food for thought - if arizona makes the playoffs, and it looks like they will - Botterill could be the only GM in the league to be on the job 3+ years without a playoff appearance

BoTTeRiLl Is VeRy PaTiEnT

- jcragcrumple

Yes, he inherited Eichel and a farm system that basically had nothing.1 player does not make a team, I am not letting him of the hook. He needs to fix this but this mess goes back to before he got here.

Ryan Johansen or Kyle Turris (if they ate 2 mil per)
- homiedclown

Who are the Sabres trading back?

Turris, 30, 4-1/2 years at $6m, 40 pts avg last 3 - 4 years
Johansen, 27, 5-1/2 years at $8m, 55 - 65 pts avg.

I'm sure the Preds would take Bogo and Sheary for Johansen and Erod and Scandella for Turris, lol!

3 years is enough time for progress

we added dahlin in the mix, but retaining lifetime losers does not help the cause for giving him a 4th season if they fall flat on their face when the calendar is turned like last season

if it's turris, a goalie prospect, a d prospect and an expiring contract is more then enough if they retain 2 mil

for johansen
casey, a first round pick and mccabe

She cleaned up both teams and is running 2 respectable businesses that I'm proud to be a fan of.

The Bill's are a group of good guys that play for each other. The pegulas hired the right people, hard to argue that. Although someone will.

Does this include making Russ Brandon the President of the Sabres too?

Very true, but could you tell me Vesey was gonna be this bad, Mojo would disappear, Skinner would go on a 2 month slump. Tell me the the LOG would be are 2nd best line. Everybody wants a trade but do we have what other GM'S want, if are players are losers why would they take are trash

I doubt they finish there as the roster stands. After seeing his roster throw up all over itself against Philadelphia, he lost whatever remaining credibility he had.

The best thing this team can do is get rid of him and his poopty UFAs, make ralph the VP of hockey ops and have him lead a GM search.

The only reason the season isnt a tire fire is because of Eichel

this is all on the gm

he brought these guys in

he hoarded all these d men

if he fixed the center situation instead of bring in d men it might be better

the wingers are only as good as their centers, and we have leino part 2 as our second line center
our 2017 first round pick demoted
and e rod cant execute a real coaches playbook

imagine if olofsson was just a fringe third liner, where we would be

There's no point right now, his value has diminished so much that the only move is holding on and developing him in Rochester. He has not recorded a point in three games down there. What GM is giving up something of value for him right now? I want to keep Casey and let him age a little bit.

Top line by Murray

Top d pair by Darcy

Top goalie by Darcy

Botterill failed. Pull the rip cord before he can do any more damage

Botterill will get this year and next before the Pegulas look at his expiration date and make a decision. Worst case, half of next year. I like Kreuger, Jokihowareyou, and Montour. Botts has made some good decisions and, I believe, is on a slow and patient path which has been instructed to him from the owners. Next year the Sabres, with Cozens and possibly Luukkonen could feel like a team that could cause some damage in the playoffs.

There's really no point. I can tell you exactly how the off season will go:

-Re-sign Larsson, Vesey and Scandella

- trade a couple 3rds for some mediocre wingers

- assume Cozens or Mitts or Mojo will solve the 2C problem

-Head to the cabin for the rest of the summer

Defense had a disappointing game, it happens they have been a rock most season. Allen missed 2 throws to Knox in the Endzone that a High School QB could make. Are offense had a chance to bail out the defense and they didn't.
- Buff36

36 I disagree with your view of josh allen. Josh missed a few throws on sunday. Big deal.

Allen is the future of the Bill's and the future is bright.

Sometimes around here, it's the people who you agree with or disagree with that proves you right or wrong.

And the I
Next GM would still have to fix the system, and Darcy stuff is left because there was nobody left in the system to take anybody's place after Murray's 22 trades and the only thing left from Murray is are top line. Mitts might be a failed draft pick, but that happens, it happens all the time in Hockey cause these kids are so young when they are drafted. Should Botts have made more moves, think we can all agree on that, especially at 2C.

Botterill hasn't added a single game changer in 3 years. Maybe Dahlin, who we had to suck real bad to get. It's a history of mediocre moves and underwhelming results. With all of his crappy UFAs leaving, it's the perfect time to make a needed change to get someone with a vision in here

The NFL Network broke down the two misses to Knox in the endzone. On the one in the 4th quarter, nobody seems to notice that 6'5 Kyle Van Noy was right in Allen's throwing lane. He had to throw it over him and still drop it in the bucket. Now, that's a throw that the "good" quarterbacks in this league can still make (Mahomes, Brees, etc.), but it was a much more difficult throw than it looked like.
