Botterill middled the rebuild and this is what we got. Traded 2nds and 3rds for mediocre players
- jcragcrumple

everyone wanted him to revamp the defense...and he did that using chopped liver (Nylander,) guhle, and three picks--an extra first, a second and a fifth...he got three d-men out of the deal...all the type of player that everyone wanted on the back-end and one in particular, Jokiharju, is far exceeding any and all expectations so far...at the age of 20

those are the types of players that are out there...after that it's a matter of fitting them under the cap

Every defense of Botterill basically rests on "the job is hard"

Well maybe the job is just too hard for him. It certainly seems so

- jcragcrumple

This.....is not unfair

yet the d is lost on most nights with no chemistry

it's not just the lack of scoring hurting this d, with all these additions our d is probably still a bottom ten team

With career AHLers leading the charge

He should get AHL GM of the year

- jcragcrumple

I’m not great with the farm club, but you probably have 13 prospects on that roster vs. guys like Ellie, Wilson, Gilmore.... and that’s just at quick glance with limited knowledge.

Im not sure that's actually true.

It would just look that way to some because it's new, they'd want to believe it's different.

one of the big issues is lack of chemistry in the middle 6

that's not totally true...Scandella/joker have been rock-solid and this defense has improved quite a bit over last season although they've had their moments both as a group and individually

Simmonds has been pretty consistent throughout his career

we know the needs...he knows the needs...but where is the trade-partner and does buffalo have what they want for a trade like that to go through?
- Michael Pachla

Pach's don't you now that doesn't matter, he should just be able to pick up the phone and get what he wants

The big issue is Mittelstadt/Johansson have produced AHL like on ice results.

Can't even criticize chemistry until they put someone there who can move the puck in the right direction.

I don't deny he was once good. But he hasn't been "that" simmonds in a few years now.

This would be classic Botterill though. Make a trade that reads as a minor upgrade but doesn't address the core issue
