When teams have two scoring lines it helps tremendously with matchups against us. They can't just put their best guys against Pettersson's line all the time. That's a HUGE benefit to the club having another couple top six forwards.

Which teams have two scoring lines that are consistently better than Van's top 2 lines?

Yeah, I see the cost being a huge factor in preventing a more diverse population to be involved in Canada. poop, even beer league fees are getting stupid.
- bloatedmosquito

For my 6 year old, it is around $800 reg fee once all is said and done. Then equipment costs(not super expensive at his age, since I wouldn't but the best poop). so far you are at $1000. Then you have additional costs. My Sister spends upwards of $10,000 a year for my Nephew to play. They live in Golden, so a lot of that is tournies and other travel. But my coworker spent over $4,000 last season for her kid and will spend around the same this year. He is only 6!

And what “niche” would that be? What small, specialized section of the American population are you talking about. lol.
- bloatedmosquito

North East and pockets in the bigger NHL cities. In Canada its still very much played in every community from towns with 500 kids to cities with millions of people.

Gaudettes PPP per 60 11.41

Horvat 4.01

Boeser 4.84

Petey 6.41

Gaudette played Boeser's spot in College on the power play. I'd swap out Horvat or Boeser for Gaudette.

I think the big difference between Canada and the US now is accessibility. A friend of mine was able to put his kid in Hockey for pennies compared to here.

On a large scale, it's absolute BS how much cheaper things are in the USA

I keep saying to you go look at other teams. You don't seem too. You get some made up imagine in your head.

Go look at the best teams top 6 scoring forwards compared to Vancouvers and see how much better they are.

Glad I only have girls. Oldest Daughters dance was only $3500 this year for 5 dance classes one hour a week. Pretty much $700 for each class one hour a week for 8 months.

Forty percent of the teams in the league have better top two lines than Vancouver does. You over-simplify everything. We don't even have a consistent group who play second line minutes. Not to mention 30% of Horvat's production comes from the PP, 6 of his 9 goals are from the PP. Three even strength goals at this point in the season is terrible for a second line center.

It sure is. Really infuriating. Yet Canadians just accept it.

Time for another riot. This time we do it for something that’s actually important.

I've been going down to AZ by myself as my wife wanted to be here for our daughters birthday in November, then she wants to be here for our grand daughters second Christmas, I'm putting my foot down in 2020

Lol. Yeah, having daughters is real cheap. Save on hockey gear but get burned on every other life cost.

Are you the new I will continue my narrative no matter how wrong I am guy?

You're so (frank)en out to lunch on the rest of the teams in the league.

Have you ever watched another team play? Do you even see the other teams that Van is playing? Go look at some stats once in a while. PLEASE!

You are in a dream land.

Minivan....just so you know, IMO the Flyers have a much better top six than Vancouver does, as an example, but you'd never mention that because you only look at their scoring totals as a team. It's a more consistent attack and harder to defend against two good scoring lines.

True, I was just playing the racist card. lol.

As much as most of us complain about NHL expansion into the southern states it’s been great for hockey development. I was surprised to read the stats on minor hockey in Texas. They seem to have embraced the sport.

Don’t really understand why but it’s a good thing.

That spending stupidity is on the parents, not hockey as a sport in general. Those are the people who are responsible for ruining hockey in Canada.

Registration is $750 to $800 per year. You can get good quality used equipment and skates for under $150-$200 per year. If you play house (which at age 6 you would be) then your team fees for the season would be about $400. So total cost for the season at that age would be about $1,400. (Most teams at that age group do fundraising (bottle drives, etc.) to reduce that cost.) Over a 7 month season you're paying $200 per month for about 4 hours weekly of highly organized, coached, indoor recreational activity. That works out to about $12.50 per hour. *

Now compare that to other sports or activities and look at the opportunity for your child to continue that endeavor as an adult. I think hockey is a very cheap investment in skills they can potentially use their whole lives.

*If you decide to play rep hockey or spring hockey and do extra development, then yes, you can pay considerably more. But, if your budget doesn't allow for it, you don't have to. You can and probably should choose to have your child play other sports like baseball or soccer in the spring and summer.

Keep dreaming.

Van's production lacks compared to other teams in their 4th line.

Beagle Motte Schaller are .11. That's unreasonably low. They need to be closer to .25-.30
