That's some Henrik like sauce from Bowy.

Next season that'll be Taylor Hall picking up that pass

The more I watch Hughes the more I'm noticing he's making good plays defensively, he still has the odd gaff now and again (which I've pointed out) but he's got a great stick which he needs for an undersized defenseman. For a kid that just turned 20 he played the most minutes last night, 23, he's been such a great addition to the club.
- Pacificgem

The fact that he makes as little mistakes as he does, playing these minutes, at his age. The kid will be a Norris Calibre defenseman one day.

Unless we dump a certain 6m contract, I highly doubt it.

I can't say i'm all that interested in picking up Hall next season. That's just an aging contract that will cost too much in the end. JB needs to get some other players onto long term friendlier deals.

If we dump LE and get him for 8-10m it will be worth it. of a 7 year contract he will have at least 5 years of productivity and making us better. And by then the cap will either have gone up that it won't matter when he regresses, or we will get a compliance buyout to use on him.

Americans are getting real good at developing super star hockey players.

God help Canadian hockey if they take it as seriously as they do developing young football or basketball players.

Canada is still better supported in the league leaders than the US. US has always had really good players, but the best are still Canadian.

Sure, I guess. But Americans approach to sport lends itself to producing top shelf talent. When they focus on something that’s not imbedded culturally (like soccer and hockey) they succeed. Lots of money and huge population has an effect but their sport mentality is unique.

I don't see any real pro's to signing him to even a cheap contract other than production.

Van's 13 in scoring and the best players are yet to have their best seasons. He provides nothing on the defensive side.

He's a good player but i'm not throwing 8-10 million a year to a 28 year old.

That is true, but the same can be said for Russia, they don't win the gold every year Even if the US improves, the 4 powerhouses will remain the same and none will constantly dominate over the others. Canada, Sweden, Russia, and US all have great Hockey programs. The biggest issue with Canada, and what needs to change, is the cost prevents too many kids from being able to play. Other countries do a great job of making it possible for low/medium income houses to afford the sport, but Canada does very little. I want to put my son in ice hockey, but I can't afford gear PLUS registration PLUS everything else on top of that.

Hall isn't terrible defensively, but out biggest issue is consistent offense. The majority of our games this year are either 5 or more goals or 2 or less. I'd rather lose 4-3 and then win 4-3 than win 5-2 and then lose 5-2.

Well, that was fun and all, but the Canucks are definitely not in the same category as Vegas. They didn’t hit, they got hit. The only reason they pushed back was because they were being pushed. Guys don’t have each other’s back

Consistency will come with the younger core players getting more experience.

Can't see it getting to that level, hockey is still very much a niche sport in the USA.

They all past their prime years.

I do wonder how cheap they could get Galchenyuk. Travis Green turn him around the same way he did Pearson. He has put up 40 plus points or average at least for his entire career.

Beagle and Schaller for Gally.

Pitt needs bodies. They also love their vets.

As long as JB doesn’t hand out ridiculous contracts teamwhiner won’t have a problem. It ain’t the player, it’s the contract.

Don’t know why this is such a point of contention in here. dumb contracts are dumb no matter how people try and justify them.

More and More and More Canadian kids are going to play college hockey. Good Canadian kids going down and teaching the American kids how to play. Helps development.

When teams have two scoring lines it helps tremendously with matchups against us. They can't just put their best guys against Pettersson's line all the time. That's a HUGE benefit to the club having another couple top six forwards.

For sure, even their USHL is seeing more Canadian kids join, it's about the equivalent to our Junior A league but lots of kids getting drafted out of there now like Boeser and Madden.

I think the big difference between Canada and the US now is accessibility. A friend of mine was able to put his kid in Hockey for pennies compared to here.

Yeah, I see the cost being a huge factor in preventing a more diverse population to be involved in Canada. poop, even beer league fees are getting stupid.
