My biggest gripe with Reinhart is how often he likes to get the puck off his stick quickly. He does not seem to like to hold on to it for long and make plays that way.

If he added that to his game, I doubt any of us would be complaining anymore.

- kingcong39

it's funny you mentioned that...as of late I've been noticing many sabres players holding on to the puck and being patient more often when an opposing player is coming at them...the outcome has been very positive

Johnny Gaudreau for Ristolainen, Dylan Cozens and a 2020 1st
- DEDDIE

(frank)ing left field with this guy. You're gonna have to add something.

You make that move and bring in a center and you're off to the races.

I'm not so sure how much less the production would be with Tuch on Eichel's line.

- kingcong39

Do the sum of the part definitely help this team?
IMO its a big mystery if Glass could 2 C for us right now

A combination of Mittelstadt, Miller and a 1st would get a center.

As long as Botterill is more concerned with his stable of 12 NHL defensemen than finding a center, we're going to be spinning our wheels

3-1-2 with Eichel scoring 11 points in 6 games.

Good post, but it takes 2 to tango.

Who is buying low on mitts? Would any gm trade their 1st pick in year 3 as a 21 year old?

Miller makes decent $. We kinda bought him for a few picks. Same situation for the next team. A bit overpriced.?

The 1st round picks or any pick could be traded.

Flacco says this is a deep 2015 type draft.

There is some value there for sure, but are we really a lock for the playoffs with this return on a center?

He's having a Mittelesque year. Maybe they're down on him? (They're not and either is Botts about CM)
- TheSabresTaco

That would still make it an even deal?

It's an offseason move, unless they believe their team needs a shakeup now.

Question: Does it matter how deep a draft is if you wont be around to see those picks come to fruit?

If they miss the playoffs this year hes in trouble and if they are even remotely off next year hes gone.

For example, does Murray get a new GM job cause he draft VO?

Glass cannot, right now, which is why that would almost assuredly be an offseason type move.

Good post

I'm not just limiting this to the past 2 games.

Do you think sam is "available " on the trade market.
I know everything/everyone has a price, but actually "available "

I'm surprised that they haven't given sam a shot a 2c? Or 2 rw ?

Are they pairing him with eich daddy to boost Sam's stats? Which wouldn't make sense if we were trying to extend him long term?

- Boss34

This is a good post...
Doesn't make sense at all. Sam is an average skill player and role plays well with Jack (insert jokes). Paradox is his contract year. Skinner played with Jack most of last year and got 9 Mill (Evander Kane has the same career stats as Skinner and EK signed for 7). Now what with Sam. We shouldn't pay Sam 7 mill just to ride Jacks line.
2 issues this year. Skinner has played with almost everyone except Sam & Jack. I would give Skin some time with Jack and Sam. We don't have balance scoring anyway. Secondly, if Jack get injured, this team is very bad.

They used to handle the puck like it was a live grenade far too many times.

I still feel like Sam does that far too often.

I don't question Sam being a good player. I question the idea of paying him $7M+ per long term being a good idea.

I completely agree.

I think the pegulas trust jbotts. This is the plan in my opinion. Build slowly.

Have both teams (Bill's and sabres) peak around the time the dual stadium is asking for public funding?

Just my opinion, but the pegula's are not pressuring bots to acquire a 2c

Its better than its been the last few years... seems like you can tell early whether or not they will win cause some days(often) their passing and handling is awful

right now he reminds me of Pominville, who had a lot of likeable traits but ultimately lacked conviction way too often...
- Michael Pachla

I think this is fair and I don't love Sam either and I hated Pominville as capt. because of this same softness...

That said, Sam is not the problem. A trade that makes this team better does NOT involve moving one of our 4 best forwards for another forward.

We have extra NHL Dmen, a few prospects, picks and extra 3rd/4th liners. Bundle from that for one top 6 forward (either C or RW).

When one of your two superstars is playing THIS well, the pressure to be good amplifies exponentially, and rightfully so. Especially when you have 27 defensemen and are unwilling to part with any of the good ones.

Guys like Toffoli, Kempe, and Zucker are likely targets if the GM is not willing to part with anything that has much value.

that is the market value though

you can't compare him to guys signed 3 years ago with similar value

Marcus Johansson got 4.5 mil putting up .5 ppg for 2 injury plagued seasons

skunk will get 7 mil

either you retain him, or you move him for 3 prospects, and the other team gets the better player

we need to add decent players, not subtract

we need the prospect pool filled with wingers, and hope cozens becomes that second line center or casey gets his head out of his ass

aside from tage, what true winger prospects do we have that even has 3rd line nhl potential?

skunk is too slow to be a center, if they want an upbeat team

if botts was going to have him try out as center, it would have happened by now for this season

he drafted casey and cozens for a reason

If we could get Trochek for that package, I'm in.

Nick Foligno is intriguing to me, and I dont think hed cost that much.

Bjugstad for Miller would be intriguing to me. He's hurt for the next month or so, but I'd still do it

Dylan strome if he's available could be a target

I'd put together a massive deal for Larkin, or a smaller one for Athanasiou

Kempe is having a bad season. Could be a buy low option

I'm sure there are deals out there
