Dear JBotts,

Don't be scared to make a move. Use your Bottcoins and trade them for a #2 center even if you have to over pay.

i think I speak for a lot of Sabres fans, We just want to win, get us in the playoffs and build from there, dont let this season go down the drain. We have practically no secondary scoring. If you don't address it, we will fall out of the playoff race by the end of January.

IMO, i would rather have you swing and miss then to strike out looking...

Be aggressive!!

Winning fixes a lot of things.......

The ROR trade has to have him tentative to make a "flashy" deal.

If he can find a steal of a player, I think that's the route he chooses.

Miller, Vesey, Sheary, all gambles, but not nearly big swings.

If the Pens want to make that swap (Bogo/Gally), I'm all for it.

I just think Vesey does things that Gally can't (play well defensively, kill penalties), and his lack of production has "bad attitude" written all over it.

But maybe the Manitoba via Germany Whisperer can coax the good vibes back.

I’m keeping Vesey in the line up. It’s not a decision of Vesey or gally.

It should be... skinner. Gally. Mojo.

Gally is being a whinny female dog about not playing center, it’s a contract year for him, fine, here is a $9 million dollar lw that’s coming of 40 goals and a rw that has a lot of experience and is coming off a playoff run... go play center kid....

And if he can’t. He goes in the press box. But I rather watch Gally try and figure out Centre with mojo and skinner than watch erod frank a football out there and have poor skinner almost in tears.... hell I’ll send them bogo and erod for gally and a 6th. Just because Hommie loves him some 6th round picks.

I would kill for him.
This team desperately needs a guy who can win face offs regularly. Id say inability to win face offs has costs us a bunch of points already

Yeah. It’s a pipe dream. He is one I would certainly give bogo, mitts, 2021 1st for... I’m not ready to part with the 2020 1st... and I’m sure that’s still not enough. But man he’d fit in nicely. It’s a shame Nolan is out indefinitely for them because that might make them at least think about moving him, but sadly, it’s a pipe dream...

If you dont give 2020 in a deal you are not getting a player you need, alos with bogo in there you would have to send even more. Also have to add a young d

Bogo would have to go to make the money work... I might send the 2020 1st... and a young d man. My butt hole is starting to pucker. I’m glad I’m not a gm....

Sry, flagged you by accident

There's no reason the Sabres should be worried to spend their 1st for a 2C. They are a playoff team if they get one. Who cares about pick 17 or 18? I sure as poop dont. Deep draft be damned

If you get that 2C, the rest of the pieces of the roster fall together in a way that makes sense

Just for sake of the argument here, if that pick was top10 would you still make the trade? Say we were going to pick somewhere 8-10.

I would like the pick to be top-5 protected, but it wouldn't even be necessary for me. I am that confident that a real 2C would make that difference to make us a playoff team. If I can get a Couturier (probably cant) or Trochek (probably cant), I would give them Miller, Mitts and an unprotected 1st. That's how confident I am this is a playoff team with a 2C

I am so sick of picks 8-10. Give me players, not picks

For 2.5 years of couts at $4 million. Allowing cozens to develop. For a prospect that’ll be 2-3 years from contributing. I may have to sign up for that.

Olo. Jack. Samson.
Skinner. Couts. Mojo.

I like that... now that 2rw spot could be a challenge in a year or two. And that position is weak in the pipeline. So in theory, you might be giving up a future 2rw for a current 2c.... but I think I’m ok with that.

I just looked, free agent rw is pretty brutal this year, but maybe 2021 or sstt puts it together....

Wait haven't you argued for like a month that a super star talent center can play with scrubs so why pay anyone to play on the wings, but Drai can't because the Oilers don't have anyone to play on the wings... Quick, back pedal back pedal.
- SDSabre

That’s a question for Dave Tippett. I would separate Draisatil and McDavid myself to spread out the talent. Perhaps that’s why the Oilers have been struggling as of late due to the fact they have all of their eggs in one basket ?

Fair. Can obviously be risky, but still fair. I'm alone in my pick hoarding today it seems.

I wonder if Tyler Johnson could be had. UFA at the end of the year. Yes, Tampa doesn't want to subtract, but would they make a deal instead of letting him walk this summer?

And yet you're saying the 2020 1st is too good to trade...

but a package with that, a young player and an established NHLer can't get anything good

Gally doesn’t whine at all. He’s actual quite coachable and very hard working, coming early and staying late for practice. He does however gravitate towards centre ice when entering the zone making it easy to cover him and the centreman at the same time. That habit is why he isn’t playing with malkin or Crosby (also injuries too) gally is stuck on checking line duty with almost no pp time until recently. Pitt should be trying him at 3c before writing him off and moving McCann/Kahun up to top line wings.

Also pitt doesn’t need a right d barring an injury. Letang plus the emergence of Marino makes Schultz expendable. They need a solid left D, maybe scandella. I think they will stand pat though considering the injuries they’ve endured and how well they have played through them. They aren’t playing poorly by any means.

Also couts is basically untouchable in philly unless you’re talking dahlin.

I’m sure it could. But the teams that have those said players are in a playoff push of their own. Why would a team give up a top 6 right now.

Maybe Getzlaf ? But he’s old and not worth it

I only know a handful of the suspected and confirmed names, but we have the ammo to go get them at the various costs.

To waste a 115 point season and the best Sabre performance in 20 years is unforgivable imo

How is that the name you came up with? He has a full NMC

Athanasiou, Bjugstad, Druoin, Galchenyuk, Kempe, Zucker, Kreider are all to some extent rumored to be available

Who knows what is available behind the scenes? Make a great offer for Larkin, Trochek, Couturier. There are probably very good names available, and we have the ammo to make it happen.

Isn't there a narrative still being pushed by someone on this board playing down the importance of special teams? Yeah, about that.

From Twitter:

At 5v5 they, the Sabres, have an overall 53% goal share. 7th in the league.

On special teams? A 41% goal share. It’s killing them

Also, having Skinner off the 1st line:
2018-2019 non 1st line: 39% GF%
2019-2020 non 1st line: 47% GF%

Also, look at the Sabres record, it's better. The coach might have a clue about keeping him off the 1st line up until now. The ice 200 ft long, when Skinner sucks in his D game and when you match up against the big boys often when you play the top line the coach might think that would hurt the team.
