No, not Zadarov.
If we have pick #1 I keep it all day and grab Lafreniere. After that it gets murky, but I would certainly look to move that pick for a dman. We can't just keep drafting the best center in the draft and give them nothing to work with and hope Blackwood can hold down fort playing behind Mueller, Carrick, and aging Subban and already old Green etc,
Smith looks promising, and I hope Ray knows what he's doing with Bahl, but neither of those guys are absolute locks for future top pairing D. - smellmyfinger
Wouldn’t hate it but it would be nice to have a little more size in the top 6, Byfield could be scary good

If we get a top 2 pick the only way I'd trade it is for an established under 25 top pairing dman. Both Byfield and Lafreniere seem to have star potential so not giving them up for anything less. |

I just looked at capfriendly to see pending RFA defensemen. Tampa has a lot of money tied up and Vasilevskiys extension kicks in next year. Not saying they’d do it, but Sergachev comes off his ELC next season. That’s the type of player I’d be waving around a top 5 pick for. - smellmyfinger
It's tough to tell if Sergachev is actually really good or not because playing on Tampa improves your underlying numbers a lot, but he is definitely a guy I'd want on the team. Good skate, has potential offensive upside, and for all of the intangibles people he is big. |

Is Sandin the real deal in Toronto or is he in that second tier ? Never know if he is just over hyped because of the very large Toronto media or if he is a legit stud in the making. |

He's legit, gonna be real good for them for a long time. Both him and Liljegren |

I think he was taken after Ty Smith like 29th or something right ? |

Yeah he was someone Todd really loved, and if Smith wasnt still on the board i wouldve been all for trading down to draft him |

They can have Arizona’s first for Serg. He’s not worth a top5 pick in this deep draft |

This Boqvist-McLeod-Wood line looking pretty good so far. Hopefully they get some chemistry so all of them can start producing. |

Why? He basically said that Hall was going to re-sign but instead of doing it before the season started he waited to see if the team was going to perform. They didn't so he traded him to recoup assets and continue rebuilding. What's the problem here. |

More then what was stated.
Seems he is relying heavily on guys like Mike Mcleod and others who arent even lighting up the A to come in and take over.
I want to know what if they cant as it does seem unlikely a lot of them can.
He relies on these prospects that arent even amongst the best so when they dont meet their potentials is it our goal to just keep drafting ?
There is an article stating Ray doesnt want to blow the team up so thats pretty interesting if that means he wants to look to keep all of our ufas of value.
He didnt really say he planned on selling off more and continuing to stock pile picks so whats the plan because I dont think we can wait for our lack luster pool to some how turn into studs so we kind of need to get a bunch more that arent already here via draft. |

Did subban have to agree to come here ? Did he have that in his contract ? Just wondering because he also stated that he hadnt won and that, that was exactly what he came here to do so that would also really go against alot of what Ray said. |

Of course he's going to say this isnt going to become a firesale. He wont just go out and say everybody is up for grabs because it lowers perceived value. Our pending UFAs will be gone by the trade deadline, including Vatanen if they cant get an extension done by the deadline. |

I doubt given our spot in the standings that it would lower the value of anyone that much. Pretty clear thats what teams near the bottom look to do. |

I'm just saying, hes not going to go out in an interview and say its a firesale and everyone is available. Reading into him saying he doesnt plan on selling off anymore players is pointless. There will be absolutely be a couple more players dealt by the deadline for futures. |

He could of gave an idea of a time frame of when we would be aiming to be competitive again because he just wants to have a job forever even if it yeilds little results. |

So will we be building through draft aiming to select high for the next few years ? How long does everyone think the guy given thw reins should have got to turn this team around ?
If he isnt there yet he hasnt to be approaching and it seems he wont get us there anytime soon?
Like is he going to get 10 years and thats reasonable ? |
