Again, we’re talking about 2 assets instead of 5. Tell me which scouts 7 years ago thought Pelech, Mayfield or Anders Lee were going to be solid NHL Players. If you’re not talking players the level of a Dobson or a Wahlstrom, it’s difficult to tell whether any of them are going to take a regular shift.

I happen to think he’s solid at both ends of the ice, but Toffoli is just a name I threw out there- put anyone you like there in the spot. If I can get someone decent for one or two assets, I’m fine with it, especially if it’s someone I have a REALISTIC chance of signing, as opposed to the guy who’s going to be the king of the hill on July 1st, and knows it. I still think the Devils did OK here.

The Islanders, I mean they drafted them

Big difference from your first rant (I mean post)about giving up way too much. I think the word was never trade what they did for A rental. Now they did alright

I disagree but maybe it has something to do with me not even being sure if I’d want to resign Hall. You can get all of the assets you want if they’re not good prospects they normally don’t amount to much. The big part of this deal for the Devils is Bahl who seems to be a bit of a coin flip. Maybe he’ll develop into something along the lines of a top four a few years from now? In the end after breaking it down its most likely Hall for a 20-25 first and a middling top four defender. I take that chance if I believe Hall is the piece that helps my team win a cup even if he doesn’t resign. Can’t hold onto everything you got all the time and expect to make a push.

I’ll believe that when I see it.

Don’t think Lou wants that cancer near his assets in BP imho.

Or win the cup or win a PO series, which they haven’t done in who knows. Also Make a lot of money selling PO tix and sell season tix for next season etc. etc.
It a business.

That didn’t work out too well for CBJ last year. I understand the need to take a chance. I just don’t think WE needed to take THAT chance. Also, twitter rumor has it we did inquire, but being a division rival, they tried to shake us down a lot harder than they did Arizona.

Unless he’s hoping everyone forgot who he is, so when he goes 2-10-12, -7, in 6 games, we might get a 4th round pick for him.

Exactly. With the salary cap it’s a borderline impossible feat to just build solely through the draft. The timing, development, pending free agency for your good young player, and just how your draft picks develop time wise would require too many things to jive right for it to be a realistic expectation. You have to add through trade and or free agency to stay competitive and push your team over the edge. If you’re not you get what we had pre Trotz and Lameriello.

Good on the coyotes for taking a shot. I don’t think it’s their time but good on them to go for it. You win the cup it’s a good move period. Who cares about resigning anyone cross that bridge when you get to it it’s about winning the cup not worrying about crap that’s out of your control.

The problem with Pageau is that Ottawa is still looking at signing him long term and he is from Ottawa and has stated he would love to help grow with the team and stay there through the rebuild.

Yup....Louie probably finally got him to understand that smoking purple kush in his apartment won’t help create a market for his services...

I don’t buy the whole div rival shat. If Lou offered them a better deal Shero would take it imho.
As far as Columbus , they were gonna lose Panarin and Bob so why the (frank) not go for it while you have the pieces?

Totally agree obviously.

Look at the Blues last year. The Yotes could certainly do it. They are 6th right now one behind the Isles at odd shark to win the cup, pre Hall trade.

Told you've wouldn't get hall, cant wait for the we like our team and where we are at after the deadline

Only thing better is offering players more money and having them go somewhere else for less

Kind of double edged with Columbus imo. Losing your top players along with your best draft picks and prospects is leaping off the cliff😂

I appreciate the balls it took to do it just not sure if I would’ve.😂

I read the same thing. Hopefully Ottawa trades him anyway to get the picks...
