42.1 Charging - A minor or major penalty shall be imposed on a player or goalkeeper who skates or jumps into, or charges an opponent in any manner.
Charging shall mean that the actions of a player or goalkeeper who, as a result of distance traveled, shall violently check and opponent in any manner. A "charge" may be the result of a check into the boards, into the goal frame or in open ice.

That met none of the criteria

Totally agree, he was gliding the whole way. Just knocked the wussy on his ass. The refs knew the Islanders were going to put some hurt on the Preds and the refs shut that down. Man I miss the old days.

Meh there were a couple turnovers and bad clearing attempts that lead to goals. Whether they were deflections or not doesn’t really mean anything imo save for the goalies. If bailey played an ounce of defense on the first goal it never happens. If toews clears the puck off the boards instead of center ice gently the third goal doesn’t happen. Mayfield on the second. Etc. They played a good period and a quarter then took their foot off the gas imo. There were some lapses and the preds made them pay. Like you said hopefully it wakes them up.
- Cptmjl

Again I thought they played well and as crazy as you think I am, they played good enough to win. When it was 6-3 it sucked the wind out of their sails and it was game over but before then the Isles were the better team.

This should stir the shat and the team and staff will be cranky going into Boston.

Well i guess we shouldn’t expect any production from our first line next game again since Barzal suddenly needs Johnston to protect him. At least he’s safe and sound 😂

Isles typically win when they score 3. If Hall was on the team we would have lost as well no one would have helped us win tonight.
Goalies have to make a save for you.

Trotz seems pissed that Barzal is letting the other teams getting under his skin and taking penalties.

Teams are going to use this against Barzal if he does not fix this.

I’m not blaming the loss on Ross Johnston but if anyone thinks he’s helping our first line they should light themselves on fire 😂

Have to score goals to win games and Barzal has been mysteriously ineffective since Johnston has been there. Three points in the last seven games two of which were on the pp without Johnston. I get what Trotz is doing. Probably a combination of “protection” and spreading the scoring out. Do something else Johnston doesn’t belong on the first line he’s stifling Barzal.

Maybe he’s punishing him by playing Johnston on his line. Maybe Barzal is so pissed Johnston is on his line he’s taking penalties?

Both are believable 😂

He’ll be there to protect him from the big bad bruins. No idea how Barzal has made it this far without Ross😂

Well.....that was poor. Especially the starting goaltender, who played like he had a concussion. Oh well, burn the tape.....move on....

From what I heard on the radio, Trotz mostly blamed the goaltending for tonight's loss. Someone asked him about Barzal's penalty, and he did say that Barzal has to learn to deal with guys trying to get under his skin and not take penalties.

I’m just (frank)ing around about the whole punishment aspect of my post the rest I’m spot on serious. I love Trotz he’s probably the best coach in the league imo but in no world does Ross Johnston belong on the first line. I think he’s hoping he’s going to transform into the second coming of Tom Wilson. Not going to happen bud. Ross Johnston is not a good hockey player.

I’m good man. Not even angry look at our record. If we were dropping games more frequently it would piss me off. Have to wonder if a point is being made because there’s literally no justification for having that guy on the first line. That is all.

He made a nice move and clanged one off the post, ( pretty much the Isles luck tonight )and also is pretty hard on the forecheck and a moose to move out of the front of the net. That said if we do acquire another top 6 forward I believe Ross’s days on Barzy’s line will be numbered.

The kids gonna be a target for his career and he better learn how to deal with it and turn it around and have others take stupid penalties against him. Trots was great at that, Bobby Clark one on my early idols was as well.

Totally agree with Trotz JS I don’t think the Goalies gave us any gamers except maybe one from Greiss.

Just one of those games, need to get pissed and take it to The Bears Thursday.

I’m breathing. Again, I’m good I’m not mad you (frank)ing jackass😂
We already have another top 6 forward that can play on the first line. You make it sound like he’s been playing there for two years we have the same line up😂

The guy is rarely in position to score pretty much never is actually and he can stay in front of the net on the fourth line when Martin is injured. That’s Ross Johnston’s role. He’s a fill in for the fourth line. In no world is the guy a first line player or ever belong there. The whole protection mantra is laughable. Barzal has been surviving in this league for three years now. He gets injured the next game and Ross Johnston wasn’t on his line that’s not why it happened. It’s beyond stupid at this point.

For a team that needs scoring to me it seems pretty stupid to limit your top scoring line by having a borderline NHL player that probably wouldn’t break the line up on 95% of the NHL’s teams on your first line. Well we need scoring let’s make it harder to score. I don’t even see how this is debatable.

I get where your coming from but I also see the point of having 4 ,evenly weighted lines out there. Leo, Johnston and ? Isn’t my idea of a reliable line. You need 4 lines to roll in todays NHL.
Again I hear what your saying but get the reason Trots is doing it and if we acquire a top 6 there will be a whole new line up especially if it’s a center.

I get what he’s doing but it’s actually limiting our scoring not helping it. We were doing fine without Ross Johnston on the first line. Can’t limit your best scorer. It’s not some thing we suddenly need. It’s been a problem for years.
