And at what point in his career did he have to option to leave and sign elsewhere as you stated in bolded uppercase letters?
Also, what does him refusing to sign have to do with UFA status? I'm pretty sure that's not how it works. - jmatchett383
I was wrong about being a UFA but he still had every opportunity to leave the Flyers if he chose to. He could have signed a shorter contract to get him to UFA. My point is you dont sign a long term deal with a NMC with a rebuilding team if you dont intend to stay with them
He could have signed a 1-3 year deal and left upon becoming a UFA. He clearly want to be a Flyer and he wants to bring a cup here. That is why he was made Captain. |

“I can tell you that he’s been outstanding. Kovy’s situation has nothing to do with him as a person or his work ethic or anything like that. He’s outstanding. He works as hard as anybody right now.”

They're the 5th worst team in the league, maybe they all need to work harder.

Circumstances can change for a player and a team 5 years down the line after signing a contract. This is all speculative and I dont believe that either the player or the team wants a trade to happen. If that changed and a deal was worked out, I think Giroux would reluctantly accept. The Cap and making all that work with the right team to appease Giroux is the true impediment. Not the NMC.

so....
Pens have handled their injuries well, for a team with no farm system you have to be impressed SO FAR.
If the Flyer don't is that related to Hexy's drafting? You could make a case that with all the picks, the Flyers should have the depth to handle the injury bug.
Just a question, I do get losing who the Flyer have is crazy and it has only been 3 games. |

Since we are speculating, I don’t think this trade talk is a current thought for the player or organization. In 2 years, when Giroux is approaching his first UFA status, that’s when this becomes front and center. That will depend largely on the growth of the team, current standings and play of the Captain. Then we will see how G feels about the Flyers and the Flyers about him. All speculation of course.

Not the same hit and while some facets are similar, there are numerous differences. |

I honestly dont know what to say to this post.
"AHL players on the ice"
You are aware that they have two full lines of starting forwards out right now correct?
Please give me a team in the league that could lose two full lines of starters and not have AHL players on the ice?
"Hopefully they get healthy"
Cancer, Migraine Disorder, 2 concussions, broken finger and a groin pull..
Which one of those is most likely to "get healthy" - opeth_pa
I just stated the multitude of reasons that led to the tough road trip. With the injury
depleted team that Philly put on the ice, it was no surprise they had a rough time. In regards to the injuries, How bad is Laughton's groin pull? Is he out for weeks or day to day? Is Pitlick's concussion very bad or is it mild and could he be back on the ice later this week? I'm trying to hope for the best and not be miserable like some people on this board. |

Kovy is available for the small asking price of 6.35mil
I dont know why i love to watch LA suffer but i really enjoy this biting them in the A |

I expected loses in WPG and COL but MIN was a game that they should have won. I get that they lost 2 guys those first two goals were plays that should not happen in the NHL |

Its mutual termination. Any team can get him for a much lower cap hit if he chooses. |

Fair enough! =)
Some posters here have a way of making people want to punch puppies. It's literally like sitting through Season 8 of GoT..Sure the other seasons had some BS but you could live with it..Then season 8 hit..
That's my summary of Team Negative. (said in the most caring way of course) |

And the veterans should put more "weight" on their shoulders in this situation. Some of them are still MIA - missingmike
Agreed. I was speaking more towards having NHL level players in the line up. Not sure how many of the guys they called up recently are actual NHL level talents. They need more from the big guys. |

Depends on his asking price, he did get a huge bonus. Might sign cheap like players on buyout. I think we got enough with Lindblom and Morin on LTIR |

I would assume that Kovy would want $1mil. They would have to make an additional move if everyone got healthy. They have 13 forwards already. Just don't think he is worth all of the juggling they would have to do. |
