Terrible road trip. Injuries, illness, stupid penalties, AHL players on the ice, bone headed plays all came back to haunt the Flyers. Poor game tonight by the Flyers, but Elliot wasn't at the top of his game, either. The Flyers are back home on Tuesday against the Ducks, who are near the bottom of their division. A win against them should get the Flyers pointed in the right direction. Hopefully they get healthy, too?
I’m in between. Disappointed in the road trip, but am also realistic to their situation. Didn’t love the way Hextall did things. Don’t think he was as good as some made him out to be or as bad as others did. His biggest downfall was sticking with Hakstol, who probably should have never been an NHL head coach. - Flyers1218
But Hakstol is a pretty decent coach even if I agree with you that his performances was declining over the years as pressure mounted
Imo he didn’t go far enough in his vision. Aggressive to start, dealing Schenn and moving up for Konecny.
Then seemingly far too comfortable sitting on his ass and drafting in the spot allotted to him.
What this team needed out of the rebuild was more high end talent to help transition from the older core. It really sucks that Patrick has ongoing health issues. Simply bad luck there, so to speak.
At this point though, it’s tough to think about much else other than Lind. Hopefully he will be alright. - flyer_nutter
What are you going to do when all the players that Hextall drafted start to gel and the Flyers are a top team? Hart, Provorov, Sanheim, Lindholm, KInecny, Myers, Farabee, Frost to name a few. How much high talent can someone expect a GM to add? They weren't going to tank. Nor should they have.
Despite the score the we played well vs Winnipeg. If we dont take that 5 min major i believe it would have been a different game. It was a much better effort than in Minnesota

What a trash organization this is. 6 forwards out and they dont have a steady line of NHL level players to replace them. Fletcher need to be fired now.
This is what I see when I read some of the comments about having AHL level talent on the ice right now.
why would farabee get suspended if borowicki didn't get suspended same hit - 2Real
Probably because the Farabee his is substantially later than the TK hit and the TK hit was more of an in the flow of the game type hit while the Farebee hit was more targetted.

It still bothers me there was no call on the late cross-check to Farabee's back. That should have been a crosscheck and/or interference. Yet no call. Farabee made a dumb decision, but if you call the penalty on the cross check, Farabee never retaliates and WPG never get an injured player. It all simply could have been avoided.

I honestly dont know what to say to this post.
"AHL players on the ice"
You are aware that they have two full lines of starting forwards out right now correct?
Please give me a team in the league that could lose two full lines of starters and not have AHL players on the ice?
"Hopefully they get healthy"
Cancer, Migraine Disorder, 2 concussions, broken finger and a groin pull..
Which one of those is most likely to "get healthy"
Hextall’s asinine and cowardly approach of trying to stay competitive while retooling is coming home to roost. Relying on an aging core while infusing some young pieces - that sadly do not have the required star power.
Don’t forget about completely botching a 2nd Overall Pick... - Za Warudo
Any GM in that spot takes Nolan Patrick and there’s no debate on this. Nico and Nolan were the consensus top two players with Patrick being the guy who most thought would go first several years leading up to that draft.

I wasn't able to see the game but I did see the replay of the penalty. I agree a call should've been made there. Doesn't excuse Farabee as you said. I think this is just an overflow of frustration for Farabee. I think he's finding adjusting to the NHL frustrating that he's not scoring as much as he would like. Some more AHL time would help him but not really an option right now.

Any good GM would obtain a magic 8 ball to foresee the right choice
Bill what moves can you see the flyers Making ( short or long term ) to address the fwd issue as the season can easily go down the tubes if some of those guys now in the lineup are there for a while.
Any free agents still out there that can possibly help?

Hindsight is a powerful tool for Hockey forum GM's.
It always makes me lol when someone says "Flyers screwed up the second overall pick"
Can you imagine the uproar if they didn't take NoPa at that position?

I was working and didn’t see the game. Did Perreault come back and play in the game after that hit?
A few weeks ago the Flyers were rolling the best 4 lines we’ve seen in years and now this. What a drastic turn in fortunes. Just unbelievable. I’m just crushed by the Oskar diagnosis.

And here we go. The morons coming out in full force. - MBFlyerfan
lol yup
They just need to regroup, buckle down, get the new faces acclimated, and go out and play hard. It won't be easy. It won't be pretty. It's all there is to do, though.

worse hits don't even get a minor call. I can't believe this kid has a roll in the NHL a 6 foot 164 pound wrecking machine just running around head hunting. Can't believe it was a game misconduct....simple embarrassing. Consistently inconsistent. While i am not mad at the boro to konecny hit. there was head contact. While a second...1 whole second late full/high speed after two strides farabee the wall lays the smack down. Yeah two minutes fro interference should've been the call.
