Leivo asked for a trade. Dubas put him off as long as he could. That trade is 100% on Babcock. - RogerRoeper
No.
Dubas made the trade. If dubas really wanted him to stay cause he thought he was exactly what the leafs needed. He would have kept him.
Continue your babs whining all you want, but dubas made the trade |

He was scratched 70 freaking games!!!! How can you scratch a guy for weeks and then give him 10 minutes and expect great results? come on. - RogerRoeper
Because by the look of it, Holl loves to rush...different style then Babs wanted from that spot. If he gave him the shot and he got burned not playing the coaches way...you sit. |

Dubas traded leivo.
If dubas really thought leivo was so great, dubas would have moved someone else, kept leivo and had him played.
Glad hes doing well on a canucks team that you and many others think isnt that great, but no real loss. - Fakepartofme
Traded who? How would he have had him played when he doesn't make lineups, coach does and he didn't want to play him?

A GM cannot keep a player who wants out and has asked for a trade. And Dubas waited for a long time to pull the trigger on it.
Leivo even gave a freaking interview about asking for a trade long before he was traded. LOL |

Trade Nylander for a "Top 4 D". Or we can keep him and play Justin Holl who makes 675 K LOL.
People are morons. - RogerRoeper
I don't know if its moronic to suggest trading Nylander for top 4 d - if that's even possible.
Yes, it would seem the Holl has solidified things - and I'm glad for that. I'm glad he's getting a chance to play a large number of games and getting significant ice time. Benching him for Marincin last year can't be explained in any logical way.
but back to why Nylander maybe more valuable as a tradable assent than as a Leaf going forward.
Apart from a single advanced stat - about his apparent all-worldliness at zone entries... what else does he actually notably contribute game in game out. Aside from the 2-3 a game high and wide shot attempts... I'm not seeing much.
Referees are best when they are invisible. Defensemen are generally best when they are invisible. 7M$ "scoring" forwards aren't supposed to be invisible.

When they played Vancouver they asked him about it.
Said it was a toxic environment.
But hey, all hail babs |

This is simply not true. Brian Burke addressed this issue recently and said he did it only once in his entire GM career. He said coaching should be left to the coach. |

Yes they can, if said gm really wants the player on the team. They find a way.
Babs wasnt playing him, dubas seemer to think he wasnt worth keeping, so he agreed to trade him for nothing.
Moving on. |

I think that that situation is more of an indictment on the coach and how bad he was.
We lost a legit player with low cap hit because of an idiot.
The gm doesn't make the lineups, or else Holl and leivo would have been playing regularly |
