The Arizona Coyotes are reportedly close to acquiring Taylor Hall.
The Colorado Avalanche and St. Louis Blues have also been cited as potential destinations for Hall, but Arizona is reportedly the frontrunner at this time. The Coyotes could certainly use Hall to bolster their offense and it'd be interesting to see him on a line with Phil Kessel.

Skinner has 3 guys on him every time he touches the puck and his linemates are completely useless.

No one talks about how he gets swarmed the second he touches the puck but yeah man overpaid and poop.

- BeadyEyedDouche

What’s Eichel’s excuse ?

He was also wide open for a chance with no one around him and Johansson decided to dangle to into an islanders shin pads

The Canucks are working with Sven Baertschi’s agent to try and find him a new home.
Baertschi’s agent Andre Rufener would like a change of scenery for his client, ‘We would like to get traded, I am in contact with Jim Benning, he knows that.’

I'd take Nikolay Goldobin

Our last 10 game’s we’ve played with $9M on the second line doing nothing.

Well when you don’t play PP or PK that’s what happens. 11 minutes of ES would be close to 2nd line for anyone else.

24 minutes for Eichel
- jcragcrumple

And he wasn't even tops in ice time for forwards. Oloffson had 24:25.

Anthony Duclair has 18 goals already and has been passed around like the town bike.

Yet everyone is ok with giving a winger an 8 year 72M contract.

- Pegullaville

Oh, you mean the guy that has scored 20 goals once, 4 years ago? That guy? He's 24, maybe he's finally found his game.

Flacco- nobody wants you to be right, but clearly skinner is struggling.

My problem with the constant bashing is, what were you going to give skinner? Let's be realistic, because he was a ufa coming off a 40 goal season. Max contract

I know 1 guy around here who's "life wish" was for erod to play 2c with/without skinner.

Erod is flat out a non factor, except the dumb penalty.

Ralph’s system has been a ridiculously positive game changer for a few players: Risto, larsson, girgs, oloffson, eichel, scandella, Okposo but obviously hasn’t worked for Erod.
- turbo044

Bingo!
The difference between last year's team quitting in themselves, and this season's willingness to battle through adversity.

Interesting article back in late Sept or so about how Ralph brought together the entire Coaching Staff from Cinci, Roch and Sabres for several days in which they all had to talk about the system they preferred and what were the best attributes about them...then as a team they began to meld it into their own system.
What great leadership...and they all bought in because it was theirs...to which each organization has implemented the same system for continuity from ECHL>>AHL>>NHL.

The guy is genius.

Skinner is holding back 'cause he's only paid 2nd line money at $9m, not 1st line at $10m.
it's so basic

I disagree with his terrible takes and constant whining

Sabres are winning.
Larsson is playing well
Girgs is playing well
Erod sucks
Botts is not getting fired if we miss the playoffs
Botts is doing a fine job managing this team
Botts will trade a defenseman or 2 from a position of strength at the deadline.

And he's disrespectful

I really really really hope this is an attempt at sarcasm??? Please tell me it is. Please
- turbo044

The point was, if it’s worth bringing up Skinner and his contract several times a day, maybe a moment of reflection for the individual who signed him to it.

HBuzz posters who like Jeff weren’t the ones who gave him all that dough. You’d think someone who has such disdain for the player and contract would view the GM who gave him that money and term would be viewed as a villain. Since it seems as though it was such a poor decision to some.

Eichel would be making at least $12M on the open market. And that wouldn't even be true value, the cap squeezes the top together, so an extra million means way more than it does to a guy from $3M to $4M.

Just got home from the game. When skating out for the 2nd period, Dahlin collided with one of the Isles coming out of their tunnel and the guy slashed him across the forearm. Looked like a d-bag move, totally intentional. Dahlin looked like he was hurt, he was holding his forearm, went to the ref and eventually went over to the isles bench for some words. Did they show/talk about this on MSG? He seemed fine the rest of the game but he wasn’t happy right after it happened.

He has been struggling, and frustration is setting in with him ..not good, yet he remains 4th in scoring after playing with a myriad of players over the past 10 - 15 games. Get the guy some help on a bonafide 2nd line. He isn't a playmaker, he's a finisher as we saw last year when playing with good talent. It is confounding that his PP game sucks though, I will say that.

Your point about paying him as a UFA on a team that was devoid of scoring, in a year in which the fanbase was loaded for bear, and a GM who couldn't afford to lose him is spot on. He is overpaid.
Who argues that point? Nobody I have seen.

I guess having 2 Sheary' or Vesey's would have been preferred by some.

I would have moved a 2nd rounder for Burakovsky and pitched offers to Brassard and Donskoi and let Skinner walk for that kind of contract.

And for something completely different:

Everyone always says that Tampa can sign players cheaper because of no state income tax; NYS effective tax rate at $10M in 2018 was $858K. That's without any fancy accounting. In reality it would be less. Kucherov signed for $9.5M which is $10.3M in NY if you're accounting for state tax, that's still less than he should've gotten, especially once you factor in cost of living, you can get a legit mansion here for $1M. And on top of all of that players are taxed based on where they play, meaning they get NYS taxes when the play in NY, and then city taxes when they play in New York. So that $858K shrinks pretty significantly, still not nothing, but not nearly enough to make up the difference.
