Does the expansion draft factor into MM? - sammy87
I think you mean how much does the expansion draft factor into Murray. At this stage all decisions have to be made with the draft in the back of your mind.
Currently, it shouldn't be the driving force. So, just to put a number on it I would say less than 25%. Which is to say he doesn't get a no trade clause. Everything else is on the table. Ex. trade, contract, arbitration or whatever else.
Any contract negotiations I have with Murray would have expansion draft implications from the start. I would go so far as to ask Francis how much he is interested in MM. |

Does anyone listen when Ryan Wilson does a podcast? Just wondering, as I listen because 5 of my usual hockey podcasts no longer exists. |

Yeah he's not gonna do that. Dude has 2 cups, time to cash in. He's not taking a cut just to stay here. - sammy87
He can only cash in what a team is willing to pay him. Since Fleury has been gone he has proven he cant manage a workload greater than 50 games, which is a basic requirement to get paid +$6M.
He is a tandem goalie. They get paid less. Pens own his rights, if he wants to play hardball they go to arbitration and he gets paid flat to what he makes now and then he is gone to Seattle. |

100% completely disagree. All decisions made are to try and win Stanley cups. Deal with the expansion draft after the season ends right before it. I see no reason to put any stock into the expansion draft. |

Wouldn't DeSmith have to clear waivers if we traded Murray? |

Didn't he already clear when we sent him down? Does he have to clear to come back? |

No. But trading Murray is a terrible idea. |

My bad, in the old CBA there were re-entry waivers, but they don't exist anymore. |

It would be, but we're kinda (frank)ed if one of the goalies gets injured longer term and have to call Desmith up. Then we're stuck with 3 goalies up here. |

They can use emergency recall waivers for that because there's an injury. They skip waivers, just have to go back when the healthy player returns. |

+1, as rarely that we agree.

If you’re letting the expansion draft severely alter your roster construction or moves you make, you’re a moron. |

Kovy would be a perfect pickup for $1m this year. Get him signed now and you have a few months of hockey to get him up to speed and determine if he adds any value or if you need to keep looking at the deadline.
He is going to be motivated and could provide the Pens with a great weapon for the PP. Put him out there with Malkin and Rust or Hornquist and it might be a perfect fit. |

He recently missed two games due injury, doesn't score and is a defensive black hole (-35 in just 31 games, could be a record for forwards in salary cap area).

Well they technically can be sent down without going on waivers if they are in the roster for 30 days or play in 10 consecutive games. After that they require waivers. |

I think I read he does, but he'd prefer to stay in the NHL if possible. |
