Bogo going public for a trade is further evidence that Botts is a bad GM. What did Botts think would happen when a player like Bogo is sitting while McCabe is playing? If I were Bogo I would do the same.

Mittelstadt scratched? Why the hell hasn’t he been sent down to Rochester months ago to properly develop? How was sitting in the press box and playing minimal minutes helping his development?

We have neophytic ownership and management and it’s embarrassing. Steps should have been taken last off-season to properly deal with the logjam at defense and shortcomings of the forward depth. When you have 8+ NHL defensemen and so few quality forwards that you have an undeveloped draft pick playing third center and a fourth liner playing a top six role, it’s a problem.

Not to mention that we have other problems brewing with players like Pilut and Gilmour not getting NHL ice time they feel they deserve. I am sure they are both looking to get out of here ASAP.

This is mismanagement plain and simple. It is part of the GM’s job to look ahead and foresee these things happening. We have had a player morale issue in this organization for years and it’s not getting any better. This is unacceptable.

Yet again we are a joke and TP is too simple to even realize that he should be embarrassed.

What is a player like Bogo? A pylon lacking in movement or speed, like a broken down 2 decade old Chevy that likely needs the scrap heap?

To clarify, you're not suggesting it would take all three of the bolded above to trade for Hoffman, are you?

No way I'd give all that for an expiring contract

He's trying to do 60 on the highway but he's only doing 30 while sparks are flying from the 3 flat tires and 2 broken axles, riding the rotors to Bolivion (Mike Tyson reference for those old enough to remember it).

Maybe by the end of the year. Right now though I don’t think people are laughing at us too much. There is still time though

What, never said all of them, would I try Mitts and a pick, yes, a Dman and a pick, yes, but also said wouldn't do the trade unless Hoffman extended.

He's gotta be looking for at least $7m/6 years. Another thing to consider is he did half of his scoring on the PP last year - 35 points. There's only so much ice time on PP1. It's a tough one.

Fine, but everybody is calling for a 2C or a RW, he is just as good as Rhino. Would give us a nice 1-2 punch at RW.

🤪 Lol, see the comment that I replied to. I just filled in "Dman" with Borgen. I agree it's a haul for an impending UFA, (but to get Hoff from a division rival probably would take a ridiculous offer.) I think the original comment might've meant if the Sabres were allowed to negotiate/reach deal with Hoff before trade, you'll have to ask him.

As a pure rental, I'm in for a 2nd rounder, a d man and a low-end prospect. If we're trading Mittelstadt, I'd want a guy with RFA years or at least 3+ years on a reasonable UFA contract

First an foremost Zach Bogosian requesting a trade is the least of this team's and Jason Botterill's problems.

Zach Bogosian being a healthy scratch instead of an injured scratch for a change is a breath of fresh air because it shows the team that Kruger isn't afraid to sit a veteran player.

Even if Botterill moved one of his healthy d-men before DJ Bogo made his return Bogo should still be sitting (in his rotation with McCabe)

Having 8 NHL defensemen is great if they were all quality D-Men.

Guys like Bogo and to start the season Scandella had almost ZERO trade value (Bogo still has next to no trade value)

Risto was the one defensemen that looked like they could get something decent for, but Botterill was actually smart and knew the value he would get for him was at it's lowest. Him holding on to him is paying off as of late.

Bogo taking his turntables and wanting out is an issue. He needs to look in the mirror.

Perhaps you and Bogo should read this thread from the coach:

Correct

The dude has played in what 60% of games in a Sabres uniform due to injuries and now he is going to cry about being a healthy scratch?

It's a contract year for him hope he enjoys sitting in the press box

I get that you'd want a lot, a top 10 pick, a quality Dman prospect who is likely NHL ready now, and a 1st or 2nd round pick is too much. A cost that high makes it a go for it now move, and that isn't the Sabres.

Kevin Hayes got a 1st and a prospect but he plays center. I feel like a pair of 2nds gets Hoffman if they're selling.

I don't know what it would take, but the only reason he has come up is because Florida will not be able to afford his next contract. They will need D help soon because they have 3 D on there team that are 33 or older. And D is one thing we have.
