On that note, what do we think MM trade value is? I mean it like, if someone was inquiring for him, rather than us shopping him, which i would assume drops his percieved value?

His age and playoff experience work for him, but there's going to be a lot of goalies available ahead of expansion. So I'm not really sure, but someone will want him.

I'm more focused on trying to win the Cup this year than Murray's return. They surely could have gotten better than giving a 2nd for Fleury, but they'd also have one less Cup.

Honestly I’m not sure.

On one hand you have a young two time Stanley cup winning goalie who helped close out the playoffs.

On the other hand you have a goalie who’s struggled with consistency in the regular season and battled with some injuries.

I think GMs probably lean more to the “2 time Stanley cup” portion a little more than the latter, given the penchant to trade for “playoff experience” all the time, or bring in a “proven guy,” but really, who the (frank) knows. They could probably get some good pieces for him as he is restricted as well.

Right, and how many goalies out there haven't "battled with consistency"? Holtby got pulled to start the playoffs before they won the Cup. Bob is literally the worst goalie of all time in the playoffs.

With how many teams are in need of goalies, i feel like he could have pretty significant value.

I don't see JR moving him till the draft unless some team offers an incredible deal. In the meantime, I'd look to signing Jarry up before you trade MM.

All of them lol the most consistent goalie in recent memory is Hank. The things he did in his prime were absurd. Other than that I’m not sure if there’s another goalie close to him in consistency. Maybe Carey Price but im not even sure about that.

A lot of fun, strange stats from yesterdays game, but this one stands out to me the most. ZAR played just over 11 minutes at 5v5. He was only on the ice for a single shot on goal against. 1

Reading the MM comments i had to reassure myself that it is 2019 and not 2018...

Just remember beginning of last year when Rask couldn't stop a beach ball... damn Bruins should have waived him.

BTW, Dahlin returned and Scandella was also a healthy scratch for Buffalo. That swap makes sense for Galchenyuk. Cover for Dumoulin now and have some depth.

MM is a second half guy and he's got two cups under his belt. Moving him NOW is asinine. Having a tandem like this is a HUGE luxury for the Pens and you don't just break that up in the middle of the season.

I think he could be a good stable partner for Marino on the second pair but he isn’t the most durable. He seems to average 60-70 games per year. I think durability is something this team really needs to factor.

I don't mind the idea, but lets face it they have zero interest in sitting JJ and Petts is getting his deal as soon as the new year starts, I just don't see them making this move. GMJR went out this summer hoping to get a guy that could join the top 6. It failed. I think he is hellbent on finding that fit in the top 6.

canucks are looking for a top 6 forward. Should deal Galchenyuk there for Tanevs brother. Or Troy stetcher and Virtanen.

I’d be stoked to have both tanevs but Chris is a rd and is 4.25 or 4.5m I think. Could work with petts if pens decided to keep Marino on 3rd pairing but I doubt that.

Virtanen is a rw I’d like to acquire but We have enough mid 6 players. Could be a worthwhile trade just to get rid of 18

Tanev can play the left side. I'd like Marino to play more aggressive and really try to bring out his offensive game, Tanev is the perfect compliment like Dumo to Letang.

It's only been 4 weeks and he was supposed to miss 8.

I know excitement is low, but we're trying to trade Galchenyuk and Noesen hasn't done much, so I'll be glad to get a forward back and hope he can get back to being a solid middle six guy.

Honestly I'd like the pens to try this IF fully healthy, this is not including a Galch deal(which I hope happens)
McCann-Sid-Kahun
Guentz-Geno-Rust

ZAR-Blue-Tanev

We could always flip flop Jake and Canner. Depending on who we trade Galch for(F or D) could obviously change things as well. Our D, if none is added is pretty simple we all know what it will be.
Edit: Also could trade Bjugstad but let's see how he looks coming back, but I wouldn't lose any sleep if he was moved.

As a pens fan I’m happy for the points. As an nhl fan it sucks that the league has to manufacture wins to appease non hockey people. Speaking of non hockey people I bet Doughtys comments made a few of you uncomfortable. Keep it Canadian.

I wouldn't mind in addition to Scandella if they can snag Vesey as well.

Kovalchuk's contract is going to be terminated. I read a report that he is going to try to stay in the NHL after the contract is terminated (I would assume he is going to sign with a contender).
