He doesn't like when you use logic to debunk stats.
"Sign David Clarkson. He scored 30 goals last season."
"Should we look into the stats at all?"
"Nah, just sign him."
-Nonis - Santo_44
matthews = ovechkin because matthews scores less pp goals.
got it. |

but the scoring rates are essentially the same now as they were then.

I agree its only points
people will say Nylander has great underlying data. ignore point
and they will come back with, but he only scored 27 points
really it goes both ways. But players get paid mostly based on points. - senstroll
Absolutely, I agree. And i personally prefer Nylander over Coyle.
However, I do see the logic about the Leafs needing more Coyle and less Nylander in a broader sense.
Keep Matthews, Marner, Snakes, Nylander, Hyman, Kapanen, Andersen, Rielly and Dermott. Keep Engvall and Mikheyev if you want too.
Ship the rest of the poop out and replace with primarily low-event, defensively sound players. I don't care if any of the rest crack 30 points or not.
Need to trade Muzzin and Barrie before the deadline to recuperate some of the assets. Kadri, Rosen, Grundstrom, Durzi and a 1st for 7 playoff games was increadily short sighted.

Fun fact
Matthews has a higher PPG/60 than Ovi in the past 3 seasons.
It must of been fun for Ovi in his first season where we had a lot more PPs. |

Id trade Kap
imo he is the one you could get the best return for whatever else you need.
and he does not provide any of the grit or other things fans want or see thats missing. his PK would be missed if they didnt find a suitable replacment though

dufus.
signs players to contracts like we're back in edmonton circa 2012.
expects his starter to play 75 games we're back in new jersey circa 2003.
but he has a lot of great new ideas that are paying dividends in the standings. - Tumbleweed

Don't agree...
But yeah, all those dumb forward X + Prospect for Defensmen Y trade suggestions we see from Leaf fans could actually be legitimately possible with Kapanen.
Given that Friedman has said on multiple occasions there is a large market for him. |

I don't really know how to measure grittiness...
Hard on pucks? I don't know I'd say Hyman. Johnnson and Kap are both pretty good along the boards.
Muzzin? He hits a lot. I think I'd rather have Holl battling for pucks though... |

reading the replies I have no clue
it means something different for each fan.
Kap just skates fast and doesnt mesh well with the linemates.
