dufus.
signs players to contracts like we're back in edmonton circa 2012.
expects his starter to play 75 games we're back in new jersey circa 2003.
but he has a lot of great new ideas that are paying dividends in the standings. |

no other team has as many near league minimum players.
one injury exposes the lack of depth. spezza is ahl along with his linemates. what a joke of game-winning goal last night. - Tumbleweed
Arizona does. Calgary does. St. Louis does.
Toronto has 10 right now, all the teams above have 6 - 8. leafs 10 is including the two guys called up to cover for LTIR players. It's high compared to other teams for sure. But other, productive teams have about as many. |

did mackinnon take a discount compared to nylander given goal scoring was lower when he signed his contract? - Tumbleweed
You fell for Mackinnon's b.s revitionist history last week? |

the part that you cant really compare is the length (hehe).
Ovi 13 years to 5.
Ovi left 10s of millions on the table. But the landscape and metality has changed drastically in 10 years. Agents and players are smarter and like Baseball are looking to maximize players earnings not sign a 12 year safe deal - senstroll
Except harper signed a 13 year deal several others signed 7-9 years.
Matthews deal at 5 years, is an overpayment |

we would only be at 8 because we need to cut down to a 21 player roster.
arizona is a budget team. we shouldn't compare to them in anyway. but we are paying for part of kessel for them.
calgary will go down from 8 when players get healthy. while still maintain a 23 man roster. |

Boston just gave Charlie Coyle 5 years/5.25 per. Wonder what people would say in Toronto about that deal? |

There's this strange thing going on where suddebly the Leafs habve no depth because of the cap. I had a Leaf fan tell me we miss Bozak and JVR. They make 12.5 per. LOL. What is the reaction right now if JVR makes 7.5 per at 31 years old?
Jason Spezza is very good depth signing. |

you're quite obsessed with Coyle and Hayes it seems.
both players would be a valuable addition to this Leafs team - and the Johnsson and Kerfoot contracts are quite worse. |

HAHAHAHA
Imagine the reaction of a 1 time 50 point player like Hayes getting 7.15 per from Dubas.
Kevin Hayes might be the worse NHL contract there is and worse than anyone on the Leafs. |

yes - you can tell everything about a player's value by looking at his stats?
don't even have to look at the games!
easy peasy |

If Dubas signed that Hayes deal he'd be the laughingstock of the NHL. |
