Could have scored before OT too

Good on Marky though, getting his grooooove back

- NewYorkNuck

OK I was being somewhat facetious, but the point is, he’s been quiet lately as far as scoring.

I've benched Johansen his last 2 games and he's scored in both

Canucks deserved a better results vs the Leafs the other night. Didn't deserve to win this one.

No excuses, they need to be better moving forward, I'd also ride Markstrom until he cools off.

Even the back to back on Sat/Sun play him in both.

No doubt, these things usually even out over a 82 game season though which is why I never buy the "bad puck luck" theory in the NHL as an excuse for missing the playoffs.

It's not like the NFL where a fluky win or 2 can make a massive difference.

Need to break up Petey & Brock. Too stale & they can use the change.
- Nighthawk

Well they got it done in OT maybe better to let them stick together and work it out.

Agree they deserved better against Toronto though this game was up for grabs. Its not like the Canucks were hanging on they were pressing too. Maybe we are not used to our tenders having spectacular games.

I agree.

Some games they have it, others they don't.

During the game against the Leafs there were two plays in the first period that I just said ok tonight's not the Canucks night and I quit watching.

This game, even though they didn't play great or control play for anymore then moments and Marky had to come up big, it didn't have the feeling that they were out of it.

Chalk this game up to learning experience. (Along with every other game played from now on)

The Canes heavily out-chanced the Canucks, especially during the first 2 periods. Markstrom made at least 3-4 beautiful point blank savers in the first 2 periods plus the Canes had a goal waived off that could've counted.

They skaters didn't deserve the win, Marky did though. They definitely played better versus the Leafs.

It's been a while. Fatenberg has been pretty steady in Edler's absence. Strange how he's made it up to the pairing with Tanev and not Benn anymore. Baumy just hates Benn and Stecher.

Honestly Benn seems more suited in that 3rd pairing role, he seems to struggle against speed/skill of top scoring lines but is steady against less dangerous lines.

Schaller went 8 games without a point, scored 4 points in 3 games and has now gone 21 games without a point again.

When is it time to start a rotation of 4th liners that will help out on the scoreboard. I would be trying out different PKers in practice that could help out a bit more during the rest of the games.

I still think Jake could be developed into a decent PK’er. I refuse to believe that Schaller’s defensive awareness is that much better. If anything, defending on the PK is simplified, you don’t want Schaller matches up against top lines at 5v5 but you can survive with him staying in a shooting lane on the PK.

He's impressed with steady play. But notice offense from the D is lower now without Edler.

If Ferland stayed healthy and Sutter back Schaller could have been taken out over Gaudette. Now he's safe until Motte is back.

I don't know if Jake has the lateral ability to play the PK yet. His speed could make him a better threat than Schaller. Schaller just has more experience.

Mark Jankowski and his 1 point in 29 games could be a good buy low or swap option. Lead the league in PK points last season.

Blake Coleman from NJ would be a good get. Cost would be too high though. He's an annoying pest when he plays Vancouver.

Green's still got to learn to coach the lines differently. Looks sometimes as if he's the game plan for all 4 lines and asking the skilled lines to dump and chase is dumb.
