Personally , I want the Emeralds or Mets , it would distinguish themselves from the nautical themes of the other Seattle teams.... - Alexzanki

They should buy the Seattle Thunderbirds JR team and call the NHL team the Thunderbirds
The Kraaken can be the new name for the JR team
Minor league team, minor league name - TheGame316

"Colorado would become a monster team instantly with Hall," observed Captain Obvious.
A fabled, mythical, deeply feared deep sea monster sounds a help of a lot better for a hockey team imho.
Yeah, I have a set of sockeys in my tool box out in the garage... doesn't everyone? |

I still think Seattle Sound is the best name, and a missed opportunity. Marketable, lots of graphical options, and relevance to the city and region. - dunner84

I dislike both. The mythical Kraken is from the Atlantic, not the Pacific Ocean. That also sounds very minor league-ish. "Sockeyes" implies fighting, which is largely extinct from the modern NHL. The new hockey fans in Seattle will never see "true" hockey fights - those that took place prior to the mandating of the visor (the #1 thing that killed off fighting, much more so than the instigator rule) and back when teams reserved at least one roster spot for a goon.
From the list of 13 reserved names, the name I like best is "Sea Lions". It works on several levels. |

In the Pacific Northwest (where I live), in B.C., we call sockeye salmon, sockeye. In Seattle they refer to sockeye as “king salmon”.
So, my question is why the (frank) would they call themselves “Sockeyes”, since they don’t use that term locally??? |

I would imagine a less-literal reference than an actual sea creature, like Sea Wolves, would get the nod, especially since there are no NHL teams using the Wolf moniker. |

Boy are you going to be upset when you find out Hall isn't a center and Sakic doesn't trade for him because you said not to - eichiefs9
If they trade for him, either way, it's dumb.
He wants to play 1st line minutes all the time, and that's not going to happen, whether he plays C, W, or waterboy.
