The jaded portion of my soul really enjoys watching DBTB and their followers having to admit that Scandella is good this year despite trashing the living (frank) out of him last year and that he was done for good.

TO BE FAIR there was nothing Scandella was doing to suggest otherwise.

HOWEVER

This type of improvement should make people really think about improvement based on situational changes. Lines, partners, minutes, coaching, teams... All factors.

- TheSabresTaco

Scandella's improvement seems eerily similar to Ristolainen's improvement last year when Pilut was his partner, and this year with Montour as his partner.

Coach Krueger: "We’re going to warm up with seven and 12, and then make the call at game time.

Bogosian will be out today, and Linus Ullmark will be starting in goal."

Ullmark is the number 1

- Stripes77

Excellent news on both fronts. And it appears that Mitts and Sheary are sitting which is also good. Both should be motivated like heck the next time they play. And the best news yet - Dahlin back in the line-up. Maybe our #! PP can get its act together finally.

Sounds right. What got me was the whole 'this guy is great look at his domination, stick him with Dahlin!'

He's fine, he did great against below average comp, and vegas benched him in the playoffs.

I'm not trying to bag on Miller, he does his job, he's fine, and he takes care of business against bottom 6. It was the the social medias that trumped him up to be this incredible #2 awesome dman.

- TheSabresTaco

For 1 game, the st game.
Jesus, you make it sound like he was benched for the whole of the playoffs.

Without looking it up, I believe his counting and Advanced stats were pretty decent...and passed the eye test from the coaching staff for the rest if their games

Because, even though they have 7 or 8 RhD, they don't have 1 for the 1st pair to play next to Dahlin.
- IonSabres

You want to spend big money on that?

No way I would.

Better to keep the idea that the defensive unit as a whole is good while at a reasonable to cheap price (Dahlin, Joki, Pilut) and spend more money on improving the quality forward depth.

If Botterill uses next year's cap space on more (frank)ing defensemen I will self immolate by drowning myself in nacho cheese

No more defensemen. No more

As well as having surgery on, you know, his foot...isn't that used to skate on?
Well, I mean for every one except Knees-Sheary

I wouldn't mind getting an older vet that has 2-3 years left to help "bridge" Dahlin's formative years.

Bogo has been brutal all year long. He can’t skate. He barely can pass. He’s turned into josh gorges. Basically a human pylon
- Sabretooth9

Yes, this is indeed a fair assessment of a player who had offseason surgery and was unable to skate or partake in training camp and has played a total of 10 games this season. 10 games, 0g, 3a, +2. Perhaps a rehab assignment would have been the proper way to bring him back, but if he can return to being halfway decent he could be helpful either as a deadline trade candidate or as a physical presence in the playoffs.
No one is happy with the injury history, but perhaps the surgeries on each hip the last two years (both long overdue) will finally be the end of his health issues. I think he deserves more than a 10 game sample size to determine if he's worthless or not.

Oloffson is on pace for 31 goals and 41 goals. I know a good portion has to do with playing with Jack, but, still ridiculously impressive. I;m equally impressed with his back checking and forechecking/puck battle

As I said before, what he hoped for in Middlestadt we're getting in Oloffson.

Well, quantity certainly doesn't equate to quality.
Get rid of McCabe, Bogo, Risto, hell even Miller

Dahlin - Older,stay-at-home, defensive partner
Pilut - Montour
Borgen - Joker

See this is what I think is crazy (not directed solely at you)

People who rely on point totals, which can be attributed to luck/opportunities/teammates as well as skill, to make their points, think others are relying too much on stats that factor is so much more?

- sbroads24

No you need a healthy mix of both. The correct answer is somewhere in the middle.

1. I was laughed at.
2. I was gargling Jason's mayonnaise.
3. Dylan Cozens will never be able to carry Brandon Dubinsky's jock.
4. I am a putz because I do not believe Jason Botterill is a putz.
5. Do something Jason.
6. I am a sheep and Tim Murray was the One True GM
7. Jeff Skinner is irrelevant.
8. Sam Reinhart was drafted 2nd overall and it keeps me up at night.

- TheSabresTaco

All these add up to you not being ready.

This should be the only objective for playing him.

Time to move on and get something for him. Botts must be fired if he considers for more than a milisecond on bringing him back.
Bye bye.

Unfortunately, this team needs both.
Better send Mittsy down before he becomes Alex Nylander II.
