Why was Joki traded? Remind me. |

From reading the last couple of blogs ( am actually in Vegas now on vacation), some have brought up the question but I have not seen a serious answer. Who replaces Stan? Vegas and Seattle hired McPhee and Francis, neither had stellar records previously as GM’s although won cups as players.
I have heard Hextall ( my choice), McIsaac, Chelios. I would like Tony Granato as coach. - LAHawk
Many well run corporations have succession plans in place. I'm sure the Hawks have one. What if Stan dies from a heart attack tonight. They have someone in mind to fill the position.

As long as they keep "selling out" the on ice product is irrelevant. - fattybeef
At over $2MM per playoff home game - plus factor in the extra / diminished revenues from higher / lower TV ratings - I would guess the on-ice product matters a lot. |

So your saying he would have a different perspective? Not saying he would be a bad choice. To me, if you are going to make a change, it should be from outside. The past 10 years have been great , I think it is time to move on. He has been with the club for 19 years. Might as well stick with Bowman. |

Haha....Im sure Canada would be COMPLETELY ok with Gretzky's record going to Ovechkin and not Crosby, who the Canadian media pimps at a nauseating pace. I swear to god every night before LeBrun goes to bed he kisses his Crosby picture, and then kisses his Babcock picture.
I agree on Gretzky's take as reading what this guy went through as a talented young kid and being harassed by parents was alarming..... - SteveRain
LeBrun is one Canadian. Most Canadians would prefer Gretzky retain his record but many would also applaud someone who breaks it. Crosby will never break Gretzky’s records, but The Who’s better debates of Crosby vs Ovechkin will Continue for a long time.

If the Hawks offered up Kane to Buffalo, but insist on getting both Dahlin and Cozens in the deal....which side says "no"? Would that be enticing to either side? - PatShart
Did somebody say Kane for Miller? |

For the record, I dont think the Hawks trade 19/88 for the sole reason the money/promoting they bring in
Even though the seats will get more and more empty....they'll still sell ads and jerseys
....unless they ask to be moved - PatShart
If you are Buffalo’s GM do you make that deal? I think we both know the answer to that.
IF the Sabres were a serious contender they MAY make a Couzen’s for Kane trade IF the Hawk’s took a bad salary back or paid a large chunk of Kane’s salary and then it no longer makes sense for Chicago. |

Honestly?
Kane make 4 other players on the ice better. Not many players do that
It would give them Eichel and Skinner on one line and then Kane/Okposo (who has been a disappointment) on the other
They'd still have Ritso, Miller, Mcabe, Joki, Montour on D
I think Kane makes them a better team than what Dahlin does now...and prob a few year at least
So yeah, I'd consider it |

Given the crap contracts they would have to take on, I rather watch Kane and Keith for the next 3 seasons than guys like Okposo/Turris types. - Elbows15
I understand that. Depends on what can come back. A few lottery tickets for each might be worth it. But for the impatient types on here....the fastest way back to Cup contention is to draft high a few times. Not gonna do that trading the old guys (as you astutely point out, they're not going to a crap team). Gotta suck.... |

Kane isn't going to get you a great haul. Any team he would waive to go to is going to be a contender. You are going to have to take back a couple of poop contracts in order to move Kane. You will a decent prospect and maybe a couple of late 1st round picks at best.
Goalies rarely return a top prospect. Especially one on an expiring contract. Keith will get a meh prospect plus maybe a couple of picks at best. Probably have to take a poop contract on Keith, too. Mainly because he still has some term on his contract and is 36. - Elbows15
Well one organization which is contending are the islanders. They have Dobson and Wahlstrom which would have to be part of the deal. Thoughts. |

Even Kane can't save Okposo. Reinhart would most likely be someone to play with Kane. McCabe is meh. Word is they are looking to move Miller.
Okposo would probably have to be moved in order to afford Kane's cap hit. Unless they are adding 2 1st(unprotected), I want no part of Okposo. BTW, Okposo is currently playing on the Sabres 4th line. |

Because he farted in church. |

Because after Eichel and Skinner...BUFF has exactly what up front?
And they have quite a bit if D they've been looking to move to get F help
If NJ wants 4 players for Hall - including 2 NHL ready players and 2 prospects...and he's a UFA/going to cost more than Kane, why would Kane getting 2 top prospects be silly? - PatShart
Dahlin isn't a prospect he's really good today and the kind of player you build around.
What NJ wants and what NJ gets are two different things.
Kane is +30 and Hall is 28.
Best you get for Kane at his salary is 2 first rounders + a prospect and a junk contract to eat since his salary is so high and even that seems high. |

Kane isn't waiving to go play for the Islanders is my main thought.
Wahlstrom has struggled since making the jump to being a pro. Seems his development has stalled a bit. Dobson has never moved the needle much for me.
I would pass. Those two aren't enough to move Kane in my world. |
