If you watched a bit closer, with more attention, you would've noticed the beginnings of the slide during the 2nd period of the 4th game after he turned 26.

Truthfully, for me....it was the Nashville series when Johansen dominated Toews and keith.

That was a beat down for this team. Blame it on tread on the tires, etc, and you could and I wouldn't argue it.....but they were exposed and btw that Hawks team was 1st in the conference that year.....

That was the beginning of the "window" slamming shut.....and now it's just a matter of how the organization goes about replacing all these guys.

Dietz deleted his LTIR tweet.....thanks....hoping its not season ending. He seems to be steady eddie back there, which is what this team desperately needs.

Can still be transferred to LTIR at any point.

Starting in 2010-11

76 points, 57, 48, bump to 68, 66, 58,58,52, bump to 81, 18 currently....

So out of the last 9 years....he increased his previous year's point total....2 times.

I would call that a decline.

- SteveRain

Actually his points (and games played) starting in 2008.
54 (64 games played), 69 (82), 68 (76), 76 (80), 57 (58), 48 (47), 68 (76), 66 (81), 58 (80), 58 (72), 52 (74), 81, 82). How many games he played should account for something. Maybe who his wingers were should count for something. I wonder why they keep any other stats besides points. Because points are your only measure of his play. He really sucked in 2010 (68pts) and 2015 (66pts) which were both "declines" from his previous year.

Define "suddenly declined". Last year at age 30 he played all 82 games, had his career high in goals, assists and points playing 21 minutes per night (1:44min on PK), 56% faceoff %, 14.9 shooting %, and finished 15th in Selke voting.
- -Doh-

Toews numbers have been on the decline since 2015, last year was more of a aberration and I'd safely say his numbers were inflated because he was playing alongside Kane who was on a terror.

If you look now he has been mia again. But I see your point

That number you posted is that a real percentage or just joking around number ? If it's the real number I'm surprised only because from the naked eye and looking at players stats it would seem higher. That's all

Hes being paid ELITE money....show me ELITE production. Show me who he has made better?

How many different players has Kane played with and Kane's production hasn't slowed down......do you think maybe the front office targeted Saad hoping he could help rejuvenate Toews? knowing Kane can skate with anyone and make them a threat? Probably.

For all the advanced stats.....Toews plays on the PK and that has been a train wreck.....15th in Selke voting is nothing to brag about.

Ive seen posts say he's hurt....or this or that......I own a Toews sweater but I just see a guy who is declining. it sucks. It really does, but when his deal is up should be paid same as Kane again? NOt a chance in hell.

In a perfect world Toews is a solid 2c and a great 3c......If Im not mistaken for team Canada he centered a 3rd line with Nash and whoever else.....he thrived in that role.

I mean if he finishes at 40-45 points this year, what is going to be the spin?

As somebody else pointed out....Saad has primarily been their most consistent forward night in and night out....and then I would say Kane as his production is up and that's saying a lot considering the slump DeBrincat has been in most of the year.

Going by pure point production (your stat not mine) .... Kane's year to year points have decreased in 7 of his 12 seasons with the Hawks. 72, 70, 88, 73, 66, 55, 69, 64, 106, 89, 76, 110.

A lot of things effect play, some under the players control and some not.

That's great but it isnt' a 77% clip like 19s.

kane will get a raise. Toews will not, or better not....at least not in Chicago.

And if you don't think if the Hawks wanted to trade both....kane wouldn't bring back the higher return....we will just agree to disagree.

If you use the Keith/Seabrook comparison, both were great in the glory days.....but Keith is still playing at a higher level.

Keith=Kane
Seabrook=Toews.

I agree with the other posters argument. Kane has never had a true top 6 center or winger to play with for 95% of his career and has always produced and been a clutch player while elevating his linemates.

That year he broke 100points he had panarin and a revitalized arty.
Toews had Sharpie and hossa .

While toews was a part of the 3 cups it's hard to see Chicago winning 3 cups without hossa and toews only.

What was the spin last year when he scored 81 points?
What will the spin be next year if he scores 70 points?

So I guess you are saying they win 3 cups with Hossa and Kane without Toews. But they cannot win 3 cups with Kane and Toews without Hossa. Otherwise what is your point. I say they do not win even one cup without all 3.

Kane maybe has played without an elite center. But he also never played a 200' game, won faceoffs, played on the PK, captained a team, etc….

Interesting that Dach and Nylander are skating together.
I like boqvist and Gilbert as a pairing.

Bowman didn't have the crystal ball in his possession that some of the posters here do and unfortunately waited too long to deal Seabs, Toews and Keith; but if someone offers you a deal for Kane that could potentially hasten a rebuild I think you listen at the least.

And I'm not talking about deals of yesteryear like where the team cast off Belfour for Chris Terrerri, Ulf Dahlen and Michal Sykora or Chelios for Anders Erickson.

- HawkintheD

sounds more like Savard for Chelios instead, to me. Or the equivalent.

Chicago doesn't win without hossa was my point, I did clearly say while toews was a part of winning 3 cups , without hossa Chicago doesn't win solely with toews and Kane.

Does anyone really think Panarin would still be here if that trade weren’t made?
- Ogilthorpe2

Nah, not a chance in hindsight - and part of the trade to Columbus, was trading away the circus during a final season separation process - which was only barely less ridiculous than the ESPN LeBron James, taking talents to South Beach fake reality show treatment.

Maybe? Shaw? Bolland? Sharp? an aging Richards? Handzus?

They dont' win a cup without 2,7,19,81,88....they have proven they could win with Niemi and Crawford. Although Crawford has become a staple.

Toews has never been the primary focus of another teams checking plan, made guys around him better, anchored a PP....
