Wirtz owns half the building, parking and i think all of the booze and concession rights.
A full building brings in a lot of cash.
Not sure why everyone hates Saad. He works hard (which is a prereq here for being likable), wins battles on the boards and down low, back checks hard and is outstanding defensively and is probably a bargain at his salary. Going to be good for 20 goals and about 50 points a year. Doesn't get injured. Not sure what the problem is other than Panarin went the other way. |

Sharp as a butter knife with bricks for hands. You said it yourself, he's their most consistent (best) forward this year. Which makes perfect sense looking at the standings. |

If it were me....I'd strip Toews of the "C"......his on ice leadership is a joke. All this guy does is female dog and moan and it cost them on the PP against when he got tossed as the linesman, and rightfully so, quick dropped it as Johnny was palms up whining and Toews was late getting to the point.
Id make Kane your captain. I have read more and more takes on him guiding young guys then Toews. Seabrook also would be a choice and truly is THE captain of this team.
It would be nice if Seabrook behind closed doors told Toews to stop whining..... - SteveRain

All this talk of trading Kane is a moot point. The Hawks fanbase is pretty fickle as we all know, you trade Kane and you will probably lose 1/4 of it (for anyone who started watching in 07' or later). Plus he's a perennial 80+ point scorer and by far our best forward, no...just no. - Murph76
I don't see this happening, but what if Kane's skills, in a year or two, diminishes to the extent of Toews and Seabrook. Then, they'll be a bunch of posters saying he should have been traded 2 years ago when he was better than a point per game player. The haul would have been tremendous.

If $6M per is a 'bargain' Saad falls short of that when compared with guys like Huberdeau, Oshie, Marchand, Tuch, Palat, Pastrnack, Guentzel, Arvidsson, Kreider, Landeskog and a few others.
Sure, he checks well and is fairly good along the walls - but thats what guys like Zach Hyman do as well or better for 1/3 of the money. Saad isn't a game changer because he has hands of stone with the puck on his blade. That makes him an overpaid 3rd liner in today's NHL.
That said, he should have some reasonably good value at the trade deadline for a team that wants to add forward depth and take a real run at the Cup . |

Throw in the playoff experience, even though a few years removed. Should be able to get a great return for him at the TDL. At least a #1 pick and a NHL ready prospect, don't you think. |

I can see it now. Chevrolet could introduce a wheel chair accessible van. Toews drives up the ramp while complaining to a referee. - boilermaker100

Yeah you're right. Lame attempt of humor on my part. Seriously, I shouldn't have posted. He's having some tough times, but he was instrumental in winning 3 cups and bringing excitement and entertainment to us fans.

Ovi is probably the most likeable Russian born NHL player ever and not many would be too upset if he broke the record. Good on him if he does.
But realistically, the Great 8 might not even be able to surpass Getzky's total # of games played. - RickJ
My animosity toward our neighbors to the north stems on this perceived notion that the NHL is hell bent on screwing the Canadian teams, and that any player worth a damn is 100% Canadian.
Seeing Gretzky cherry pick in the mid 80s and beat the Hawks in Campbell conference finals yearly was gut wrenching.
Do I think Ovechkin will break Gretzky's record? Probably not. I think he'll get tired and like other Russians go back overseas and finish his career over there. I'll give those guys credit they are EXTREMELY loyal to Russia and playing for them internationally, etc.
I love Ovechkin. He's the Russia Roenick, but with tons more skill. Glad he won a cup and hopefully he can win another.
I can't stand Crosby....next to Toews nobody female doges on the ice more then him. |

Ovechkin is hundreds of miles better than Gretzky. - BINGO!
You know it's fascinating watching old highlights of the 80s and seeing all the easy goals these guys scored. Rarely any butter-fly goalies and all the slappers going in because guys came way out in their waffle pads......is something.
I never saw Orr play. Im sure he was amazing......but I would agree.....you put some of today's athletes back in mid 80s and 300 points probably hits. |
