I heard via somebody who knows Lev Parnas and Rudy Gulliani that city workers in Brantford have been told to start preparing new signs for changing Wayne Gretzky Parkway and the Wayne Gretzky Sports Center to Ovechkin Road and Ovechkin Arena. Vladdy Putin enthusiastically approves and is sending cash and some computer hackers over to help with the project.

Edmonton must be getting ready too, aren't they? Breaking #99's record is just a matter of time.

Steve and Elbows don't understand Canadians. Sure some will be upset that Gretzky's recored was broken and other may be upset it was a non canadian that did it, most Canadians will applaud the feat and arguw who was the better player while the smart money and posters know it was Bobby Orr.

Good approach however, the Hawks are quickly running out of savvy vets.

Ovi is probably the most likeable Russian born NHL player ever and not many would be too upset if he broke the record. Good on him if he does.

But realistically, the Great 8 might not even be able to surpass Getzky's total # of games played.

Good point on the bolded. Note last year's income of $69M on revenue of $208M. So next year if say 3000 less season tickets sold at average price of ____ = lost revenue of ____. Someone who knows ticket prices can fill in the blanks. Reduced revenue due to parking, concessions, souvenirs needs to be factored in too. Whatever the total number is isn't going to effect Rocky's wallet

It's the value of the franchise that counts (which is going up), not year to year income.

Since they show the Hawks with only 5 Championships, I wonder which one they're discounting - probably one of the ones that Stan had a hand in.

If an owner is not looking to sell the team, year-to-year income (and, more importantly to a privately owned operation) year-to-year cash flow is the driving factor.

Don't forget, Rocky has partners in the Hawks - family members, however many - and in the building.

Boris Smirnoff here. It's a shame the Hawk never had his brother Dmitri.

No.

Bossy scored a crazy number of goals in his short career, but the numbers weren't all that remarkable relative to the other players at the time. He only led the leagu in goals twice, and never lead it in points.

Bossy scored 64 goals in a year when Dennis Maruk scored 60. Who the (frank) is Dennis Maruk?

Modern Ovechkin in 80's NHL would have scored every other shift.

Many well run corporations have succession plans in place. I'm sure the Hawks have one. What if Stan dies from a heart attack tonight. They have someone in mind to fill the position.

Not disagreeing with anything you’ve said, but, to clarify, you can’t spend franchise value, unless you borrow against it, or when you sell the asset.

It’s like you home value. If the value of your home goes from $500,000 to $600,000, you don't have an additional $100,000. Unless you sell or take out a LOC against the value.

Move them both. Make it a two for one and bring up two more piggies.

It is pretty obvious they are too damn slow to compete with the better teams and their coach is too clueless to match wits against the better bench bosses so if some bozo wants two of their slower defenders then let it rip.

They were going to have problems without Keith and this year is looking more and more shot. Unload both goalies, stock up on assets and give the rookies as much of a look as possible.

Tell the veterans and fans were going to try really hard to get back to a threat in two years and who ever wants out we'll accommodate as best as possible. Could be major blessing.

100% agreed.

Fire sale time....will never happen but it should. Stock pile 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks. Stock pile young assets. Find the best possible coach available to help maximize the ceilings of the young prospects and I would easily buy into that.

You thank the main veterans like 19/88/2/50/7 by trying to best accommodate them at a chance to win again.

I just don't see the light this season....before all the injuries they made things interesting when they showed flashes but the dud games where they are completely outplayed and exposed far outweigh the games where they look like a playoff team.

Honestly?

Kane make 4 other players on the ice better. Not many players do that

It would give them Eichel and Skinner on one line and then Kane/Okposo (who has been a disappointment) on the other

They'd still have Ritso, Miller, Mcabe, Joki, Montour on D

I think Kane makes them a better team than what Dahlin does now...and prob a few year at least

So yeah, I'd consider it
