So Willy had the big advantage then? Not the guy always playing 2-3 minutes more per game?
- RogerRoeper

If I was going to bet on someone. I'd bet on the guy playing with AM over the guy playing with Stepan and Panik, that's all. Even with the extra PP time, he had no one to play with. Nylander didnt get the extra PP time because Leafs were twice as good and had 2 pretty good units. Actually if I remember the other unit was getting it done and the AM Nylander unit wasn't?

I don't mind Nylanders pay...don't really care. Just need him to score some goals, that 1st chance last night...was like WTF?? Then the 2nd one...I was yelling at him to rip it and he did and got unlucky...should have ripped the 1st one too.

We've had this convo....I'm sure we could find a better player to compare Nylander too money wise if we had too...but who cares.

Imagine if Dubas gave Keller 7.15 per when he had a 47 point season.
- RogerRoeper

Imagine how many points he'd have if he played for the Leafs on AM's right wing?

seriously who gives a poop about that? the Leafs had the cap space last season, its not like you can carry it over.
- senstroll

maybe we could have added another player if nylander's caphit was $6.9M, instead of $10.2M?

Maybe we wouldn't have lost to the bruins if we had a deeper team????

No more because his usage would have been cut severely by Babcock. And no top PP time either.

We lost depth with Kadr's suspensions the past 2 years.

You lose all credibility if you're raising "cash" or the one year cap hit as a measuring stick. 6.9 vs. 7.15 .....and both are comparable players.

If Willie's as bad as some think then the shorter term is a good thing. 8 years of " a guy who is a negative (see Max for explaination)" would make it worse.

They're in a similar pay grade ...with similar numbers. Time will tell.

cap hits. fact. 1 year @ 10.2M. 5 years @ 6.9M.

there is a misconception that willy's deal is 6.9M for 6 years. that's not accurate and completely misleading for comparison purposes.

keller is 7.15M for 8 years starting next year. the fair comparison is willy at $6.9M for 5 years. Because factually, that is what it is.

It's not even close who signed the more team friendly deal.

Funny how term became irrelevant when Laine signed for a much "Cheaper" cap hit than Mitch.

so. players get suspended. players get injured. the gm should use cap space to add depth.

andersen doesn't play. we lose. that is on the gm.

he put himself in a situation with zero cap flexibility to address the issue.

every year, we have a poop ton of back-to-back games. every. (frank)ing. year.

every year we need a good backup goalie. every. (frank)ing. year.

it doesn't take much foresight to realize this. dufus has none.

so. they should have traded him the year before?

who's fault is that. the gm needs to move him.

or have the depth to address lost players.

we don't have it.

if andersen goes down for a week, the playoffs are gone. 1 (frank)ing week. the season is hanging by a (frank)ing thread.

That’s bull, he’d have as many as WN I’d have to guess, since we’re playing the imagine game. Keller can’t be that poopty if he’s getting the most ice time on his team in his 1st 2 years.

Leafs are only 1 point out of playoffs. Sure teams might have 1-2 games in hand but there are still 50 games left to be played so that doesn't matter a whole lot at the moment.

I wouldn’t say he’s way better, it’s just tough to compare when 1 plays with 1 of the best scorers in the league and the other plays for a “bad contract” dumping ground.

We were in row 1 last night👍

Freddie played awesome
Tavares played great
Petan is always falling down on ice
Nylander made 2 boneheaded plays
Spezza looked big and fast (700k)
Kap was fiesty
That Ferland hit spilled 2 beers (35$)👎

OMG imagine.
Can you imagine?

Both were overpaid at the time.
Willie averaged 0.73 ppg in 185 games
Keller averaged 0.68 ppg in 167 games and is 2 years younger and doesnt play on a line with one of the best players in the league and plays on a dumpster fire team.

For a big dude he sure gets injured more than anyone else in the league. His career will be done soon 100%.

Luckily for him, he got his payday.
