Keller wasn't playing with Matthews.
Keller is a way better player than Nylander.
Don't just look at the stats - the secondary helpers really camouflage Nylander's mediocreness. - MaximusAurelius
If I look at the primary points...will this be true?

It is going to be tough with him as a FA.
If some team is going to throw 8+ at him, (probably will happen) I think they need to let him go. I just don't know where they get a starter after that. - Aetherial
That’s the problem, you can’t let him go...let me go look at his age etc 1st. Please hold, I’ll be right back. |

Keller only got those points because he played with 1 of the best goal scorers in the league...I forget his name, but I’m sure you can tell me? - Garnie
And keller played way more both 5 on 5 and PP.... |

So Willy had the big advantage then? Not the guy always playing 2-3 minutes more per game? |

i am fine with willy the player for 6.9M, 8 years was the right caphit. keller is doing fine. 2 years younger than nyalnder.
nylander's contract was one of the worst value caphits in history of the nhl last year. $10.2m for 27 points ... wtf????
he needs to be great value for the remaining 5 years to make up for that. I just don't see it.
Keller vs. Nylander. Years after drafted:
1 2 points in 3 games - slide vs sweden/marlies - slide
2 65 points in 82 games - elc vs 13 points in 22 games -elc
3 47 points in 82 games - elc vs 61 points in 81 games - elc
4 21 points in 33 games - elc vs 61 points in 82 games - elc
5 tbd vs 27 points in 54 games - $10.2M
6 tbd vs 23 points in 32 games - $6.9M |

She needs to go to school.
Complaining at a UN high level meeting that 'the world isn't doing anything!' is quite an ignorant remark.
I agree - UN doesn't do poop.
But it's the best organism we have to do anything about cross-border global issues.

What is he "Making up for", the year is over and they had the cap and it's 6.9 now through his prime years.

I really don’t think that’s relatable...it’s not her fault you chose to be a kid. 99.9% do....but it doesn’t matter what other 16 year olds think about. |

maybe cause keller was 2 years younger. and his career high was 65.
keller is a good player. the leafs aren't the only team with good players.
nylander will be on his 2nd deal making who knows what .... while keller will still have 4 years at 7.15M. the back half of that deal will be great value.
nylander at 6.9M for 8 years would have been a good deal.
the one he signed was poop for the team. - Tumbleweed
Keller and Nylander pretty good comps I think. Zona' gets a bit of a discount because they were able to get a deal done a year earlier (ie. after the second season). Smart move by them if it pans out.
Leafs should have got Willie locked up in the summer of 2017. Lou was running the show that summer. I think Dubie is on the record as saying one of the first things he did when he took over for Lou was initiate the negotiations. |

Why do you care about his cap hit last season? He fit under the cap, they had lots of space last season.
No one gives a (frank) about that so move along. |

This really has nothing to do with anything. His cap hit is $6.9. That first year at $10.2 doesn’t even matter. |

You lose all credibility if you're raising "cash" or the one year cap hit as a measuring stick. 6.9 vs. 7.15 .....and both are comparable players.
If Willie's as bad as some think then the shorter term is a good thing. 8 years of " a guy who is a negative (see Max for explaination)" would make it worse.
They're in a similar pay grade ...with similar numbers. Time will tell.

The issue is it doesn't matter what Arizona does they'll never get heat for any move.
Great example of this is when they signed Ed Jovanovski for more $$$ than McCabe and McCabe had far better #'s in every category. Guess who became the posterboy for the NHL's "worst Contract"?
Imagine if Leafs drafted a bust in 2015 (Historically great draft) and then traded him and then he played well with another team?
Leafs always have the most overpaid and overrated players. |
