Why aren't there more guys becoming nurses? Or teachers?

A good buddy of mine is a nurse, who is a guy. He received a lot of heat for it in high school.

So? Whats your point? That more men are engineers even though more women are educated in the field really? So? Maybe they changed their minds? Maybe they started families and decided not to pursue the career? This is proof of nothing.

There are more female nurses and teachers. What does that prove? That men and women have different strength and personality traits that suite certain careers? So?

Here in Quebec it's a program you do after high school. Maybe people are little smarter past high school.

It's only natural that a 9/10 ratio would drop with equal opportunities. Does this mean there are no differences between men and women that could influence their interests? I wouldn't go that far but it's not defining everything either.

As it was mentionned before, universities are so filled with women, it's only a matter of time before they become the majority in most highly educated fields.

These things are happening naturally, and one day we might have the opposite discussion on how to get our boys back in school (because yes, that's also a problem).

I am not sure its happening naturally. 'Boy' behavior is being labelled and medicated. Boys are struggling in education because of this and the style of education is not well suited for boys in general... imo

For the fun of the argument, why do you think it is we now have way more girls going to universities than boys?

Could it be the educational system is currently more appealing to girls? Could it be that it's because there are difference between them? Or do you think it's purely that, socially, we are encouraging women towards higher education than we are towards boys?

Personnally, I think there exists differences between them. They do not define everything but denying them completely would be as wrong as claiming they explain everything.
