I think people were saying an offer sheet wouldn't happen by both parties agreeing.
While there has barely been any the past decade I am sure there have been offers being sent. - Santo_44
Bottom line it was a big waste of everyone;'s time. |

Yes, but our team sucks because we have failed to build around the young talent... - Hockey_Reverend
I see a pretty damn good team on paper.
Its up to them to put it together. Took Washington 13 years and Chicago 4 years lets hope it doesn't take the Leafs too long.
Freaking out over 30 games isn't smart...Make adjustments and move on. They made a coaching change and so far are 5-3, lets give them some time here. Calm down. |

SJW's are ruining everything. From Star Wars to the NHL. They have shoved themselves into everything. Nothing is fun anymore and we are constantly reminded that we are bad. We don't know what we did, but we must have done something...
Leafs Lunch and HNIC is now talking more about equality then Hockey... I am sure this Saturday Ron will make another apology on behalf of Canadians... - Hockey_Reverend
Equality is a good thing, so is the discussion. Far too many people are ignorant of the the events of December 6th 1989 when 14 innocent women were murdered and several others were injured for being Engineers and being women. Change needs to happen and it's a good thing, the apologies don't do much.

The way I see it is that until one active NHL player comes out of the closet, the NHL has a culture problem. |

People like to nitpick Dubas's decisions.
Meanwhile Lou signed Z and Marleau to horrible deals.
He didn't give Marner performance bonuses even though players of his caliber always get them...like Babcock he refused to change and adapt his ways for the better of the team.
While Dubas added Muzzin for two years at the TDL Lou traded two 2nd round picks for 4th line players that played 20 games each for the team.
He traded a PPG player in Kessel and somehow had to retain 1.2 million for 6 years.
I am not saying Lou is a bad GM, he is a good GM. But Dubas has done a pretty excellent job here. Nitpicking a few mistakes is silly. - Santo_44
The Kessell trade was before Lou was GM. It is credited to Dubas, for what it's worth.
The deal itself is not that bad. We got Kapanen, a 1st and a 3rd and gave up Kessell and gave Pittsburgh back their 2nd (which we had acquired for Winnik); we parlayed the 1st into Andersen and the 3rd was used to puck up Greenway (who doesn't look like he'll pan out).
My guess here is that the Leafs really liked what they saw in Kapanen and felt it was worth eating the $1.2m to make the deal work.

The new good guy has a vagina - TheMussel
So Star Wars fans have no problem believing in Ewoks and Huts and Chewbaccas, but the idea of a woman using a lightsabre is ridiculous?
Do they wonder why they can't get laid? |

Nailed it.
Its not the "sjw" causing news outlets to talk about these subjects its the senseless (frank)ed up psychopaths who murdered 14 people for being women.
Don't listen to that guy. |

The 1.2 is annoying, but can't complain about how it worked out. Also, if we keep Kessel, do we get Matthews? |

It has nothing to do with that... there is nothing wrong with female heroines. Aliens had a great female heroine, same with the original Terminator. But they were real characters. Now they just insert hollow female characters in because they are female. The agenda is obvious. Catherine Kennedy who is one of the producers of the new Star Wars has basically admitted this...
Just look at what they did with the latest Terminator movie. It bombed because they did this. People are tired of it. They killed John Connor and inserted a 5 ft tall mexican girl. They basically just erase the past and insert the agenda.
Apparently the new Thor will be Jane Foster. She is 5 feet tall and weighs 100 pounds. |

So where is this supposed inequality we are made to feel bad about? In 1989 a lunatic killed people and we should feel guilty now? Peters used the n-word 10 years ago in another league referring to music, and now we should feel bad?
If there is a crime, arrest someone. If someone is an idiot, fire them for JUST cause. Don't tell Canadians they are bad because of a few bad apples. We are tired of it... |

As a nerd, I would like to remind you that size really doesn't matter with superheroes or science fiction. You're dealing with superpowers and magic and an invisible "force" and travel - both interstellar and time. A certain suspension of disbelief is required.
Their size and their reproductive organs are probably not the issue.
If the new Rocky movie had Ariana Grande beating the poop out of Ivan Drago, I'd probably be inclined to be more irritated. |

I would agree with this.
Same for some other countries - e.g. in Europe.
People there in general are quite civic and good for eachother.

I did a quick dig because Marvel movies tend to follow the canon of the comics. Turns out Jane Foster (fictional character) was written as Thor back in 1978. |

Anaheim Ducks. That's why I mentioned Burke. They spent more on 4 players than Leafs are this year (% of cap).
But Brian Burke will tell you the Leafs can't win like that. - RogerRoeper
Ok..that was one team. 12 years ago.
We'll see if it can occur again. |
