"I suppose it's a lot better to assume that the Coyotes and Islanders have cracked the code than to face reality."
But what code, what reality? You have your fixed set of beliefs in relatively new analytics being applied to the very unstructured, randomized events of an NHL hockey game. This ain't baseball. Accept that this is an evolving "science" and open up your mind to the possibility that these "impossible" results you're seeing are actually a clue to necessary changes in the analytics. Think scientifically, not emotionally.... |

Stop. Please just stop.
Every blog for a year now about the goaltending. Yes the goaltending will regress but there is so much more to this team that you refuse to write about.
I used to log in to read every day and now I almost never do because the good analysis with player charts has disappeared and now itβs all just the same thing about the goalies every single time, without ever considering that at least some percentage of the above average goaltending is based on a good fast two way team ... and that maybe....MAYBE sitting Hayton or playing Kessel less has also contributed to the higher save percentage, because solid fast system players keep the puck out, and then opportunistic offensive players cash in. - Dahlmanyotes
Well Tamsy, youβve finally done it. Your laziness has reached new heights, and youβve officially pissed off your only friend

James you don't think the Coyotes will make the playoffs, but do you think the Leafs will? And if so why? - Gomey
At this point I do think the Coyotes will make the playoffs, but the Leafs will too. |

Yes, it's me getting over emotional. When you don't have the puck, you don't win, unless your goalie plays insane, and that can only happen for so long. Now perhaps the Islanders and Coyotes are going to be the first two teams in the history of the NHL to defy this fundamental principle of the game, but all I'm saying is I doubt it. |

Ok, let's try to follow a path of Tanner logic:
"When you don't have the puck, you don't win,..."
When you don't win draws, you don't have the puck...
"Faceoffs are not important."
"I'm the smartestest!"

Counterpoint(s):
a) LOTS of kids graduating high school receive scholarships. Christ, I got one and didn't even know about it until I was walking across the stage.
b) M.A.'s are as common as gas stations and really don't make you special, so stop using it to say you are better than someone.
c) you still don't know what you are blogging about.

What I meant was, you seem to have an attachment to certain stats. Those stats are supposed to predict results, but when in a sample size of 100+ games they are not doing that, you don't seem open to the idea that the stats could have a hole. Attachment to a specific concept and not being open to revision in the face of contrary evidence. It's thinking emotionally, not scientifically. |

Greatest roster(to never win a thing) ever assembled in the cap era!

MJL - 3,008
Tan-Tan man-0
Now we all know MJL's streak is not sustainable. Even though it is going on three +/- years. At some point he will regress to the norm
For those following this means
MJL- 3,008
Tan-Tan Man- Still zero! |
